Like making inferences based on poor or incomplete evidence that someone's leaving? Wasn't planning on doing that. Evidence is tricky though; sometimes you can just witch-hunt up some proof.

Given Otule's reported progress, I don't think we need to reach for a big this spring. Wouldn't landing a decent big in '11 make more sense than picking over the leftovers for a project in spring '10?

Who knows, maybe Chris is not progressing enough for Buzz. gotta wonder why we are going for him if Chris and Yous were going to develop.

A lawyer's golden rule:
All good lawyers argue the facts when the facts are on their side. Likewise, argue the law, when the law is on your side. When you have neither, muddy the waters.

PRN's Golden Rule: There are no more inexplicably self-impressed individuals on the planet than law students and those who are within 5 years of graduating from law school.

Note to every lawyer or law student on this board....nobody is impressed with your "knowledge" of the law unless you can get us out of a speeding ticket.

Are you in Illinois PRN?

I didn't realize I was being "self-impressed." I am totally okay with people hating lawyers; we usually deserve it. I prefer to think of myself as the "blood-sucking" type.

I've got a used car salesman client.  Whenever we talk, he reminds me he and I fight for who's at the bottom of the food chain....I prefer to think used car salesmen are lower than lawyers, but that's me, Mr. "impressed with my knowledge"

Nobody has qualified yet.

Kid does look like a Ben Mills clone.   Can barely dunk off the drop step, jumper isn't all that smooth.   Mbao's is probably better.

Pretty iffy on this one unless he's got serious character and drive.    Need an athletic 6'8" power forward more than another 7 footer project.

I agree, we don't need another Mbao

The million dollar question is if Buzz will offer his father an assistant coaching position to help lure him to MU.

4everwarriors

Forget David. How tall is his father and does he have any eligibility remaining?

Well, I guess to me the implication is that someone is leaving BECAUSE Buzz is still recruiting.  In other words, the fact that someone is leaving (voluntarily or involuntarily) or someone might not qualify, is causing him to recruit.

I would hope that he's just not simply recruiting in hopes of simply finding someone better and no decisions about kicking someone off have been made yet.

Noreen took an unofficial visit, but Dieng, Gardner and Hahn have taken official visits. Kids don't take official visits to schools that only may have an opening. Someone's obviously leaving.

Why is that? Do you really believe that a simple offer of a scholarship is enough to warrant fans shutting their mouths?

We gave a scholarship to a hockey player. We gave a scholarship to a soccer player. We gave a scholarship to a kid who had one good performance in a pick-up game against our former stud recruit.

There have been scholarships given on potential (which you seem to espouse) that have blown up on us. Knowing that, I don't think any fan has to simply shut up at learning a scholarship offer has been extended simply because a few feel we shouldn't be judgmental.

You misunderstand.  People here were judging this guys entire game from a 3 minute youtube video posted by his father (i assume).

Do you think that is fair?  I don't, and I seriously doubt that Buzz would bring the kid in for an official visit if this is all he saw.

I agree with you, potential ALONE sholdn't be a reason to give a kid a scholarship.  But that isn't what happened here is it?  It was simply an official visit.  NOT A SCHOLARSHIP OFFER.  NOT A SIGNING.

Here are the "facts" that seem fairly clear:  1) Buzz seems to be actively recruiting for next year's class; and 2) if reports we're getting are accurate he's recruiting big men.  I haven't heard a lot of people disputing these facts.

So, what inferences can we make from those facts?  We can infer that Buzz is wasting his time and/or wasting these kids' time recruiting even though we won't have a scholarship open, or we can infer that Buzz believes (or knows) that there is going to be a scholarship open for next year's team.  I'll grant that the evidence is incomplete, but I know which inference I think is more likely to be accurate.  I'll also grant that there may be other inferences that can be made from the facts we know.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

Anyone ever stop to think that MAYBE Buzz is recruiting IN CASE a scholarship opens up?  MAYBE there are some things to be worked out, and one COULD open up...or one COULD NOT open up.

The time to recruit is not when you find out that you actually have an open scholarship. If you wait for that time to come, you will be too far behind and likely be out of luck.
