I got it straight from a players mouth, he personally reads this site, and he says recruits do as well.

We must be careful what we say, this is not a vacuum that only fans can enter.

Many have been saying this for a long time but some people feel it's their right to to post things about players and recruits that they would not want written about themselves if the tables were turned.

It happens on pay forums as well. :-\

If there was someone talking about me all day, I would read that website too.

I also heard that athletes, coaches, and politicians who say that they do not read the newspaper or watch the pundits are BSing as well.  Of course you listen when people are talking about you.

Well if that's the case, I'd like to say to Dominic James, wherever you are: I admired the way you played, and the way you led the troops through the turmoil a couple years ago.  I just mention this because someone on here said something a little critical of you a few days ago, and I didn't buy it.  You represented our school very well.

Agreed. I just hope the players and recruits don't take everything that is said as a correct or actual representation in any way of the majority of Marquette fans' views.

It is our job as fans to police and moderate (temperate) our own fans' reactions and statements. I don't mean this as in locking threads or deleting comments, but more that we just cannot let a few fans' views and visceral reactions dominate the board and make a bad name for Marquette fan's support for this program and the players wearing the jersey we love.

The classless (and completely wrong) Acker/Cubilian threads that were started after every game (even if we won) for most of the year come first to mind.

Which is why I don't think it's cool when people say player X sucks because he had a bad game.  Yes, players read this board, Dodds board, Cracked Sidewalks, etc.  Just as players on other teams read their fan sites.

Hopefully they read them with a great amount of skepticism and humor.  These kids are 18 - 22 years old.  We're just all a bunch of idiots following these kids every basketball move.

as this is an open forum anyone can post whatever. I think some posters may not have MU's best interests in mind all of the time. I too feel that adults ahve to keep their emotions in check.myself included

And to those players and recruits we say: Don't be afraid to get an MUScoop tattoo.  If you need some better graphics, just let us know  ;)

No Sh*t...is this really breaking news?

When was this even a debate?  If it ever was, why did it take more than one second to settle?

Oh  well--at least any big man recruit reading posts here would know how much the fans look forward to his arrival/acceptance at MU

I got it straight from a players mouth, he personally reads this site, and he says recruits do as well.

Internet Blog Rule #1:

When somebody starts out a post with "this is for real..." or "a reliable source said..." or "I got it from a players [sic] mouth..." there's a 95% chance that the following words are complete B.S.  This might be one of the 5%, but there are about five people on here (admittedly, I am not one) whose word is gold; the rest of us could be first graders with excellent grammar skills or tenth graders with first grade grammar skills (seemingly, there's quite a few of those lurking around here) for all anyone else knows.

If you know something, just say it... don't qualify it.  If you can't provide a source, your own validation isn't a substitute.  If you're right, and continue to be right, eventually you'll join that group of five.

And for the record... I completely agree.  Recruits and players do read this board, but that point was established long ago, not to mention substantiated by one of the five.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

You mean that if I type this there's a 95% certainty that both Dwight Buycks and D.J. Newbill will be reading it?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
