Jimmy actually led the entire team in minutes played this year 1165 to Lazar's 1097.  Kubbie was third, DJO fourth.

Modification for grammar.  Sorry, Mrs. Strom (sixth grade teacher).

Kubbie? Is he related to Coobie or Cooby who played on MU last season?

VERY closely related.  Couldn't remember spelling for his nickname, and I came up with Cubbie, and I knew that wasn't right, so I just tried to go phonic on Cubbie.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

No, but i thought i heard something he may not be eligable and hes probably the smallest of our guards and the worst shooter I believe so i think he may spend alot of next year watching. Newbill shoots way better and he probably wont play a ton.

I believe that Smith is touted for his quickness, freak athleticism and very good defense.  If he is a good defensive player he will get more time than DJ or Jamail next year.

PGsHeroes32

I dont expect DJ to get alot of time if any next year. But if Jamail works this summer and proves hes got the defensive skills he will defintily get the PT with his size and overall ability. I just see Reggie being more of an asset 2 years when Buycks is gone.

Probably the ONLY best part of seeing Cubillan leave. ;)

twice

So, by saying he can score from the outside you mean he's a 3-point threat? And you believe his defense will translate from JUCO to high major talent?

Could he keep Dion Waiters from penetrating the hoop?

PGsHeroes32

He can absolutly stroke it from outside. Thats actually the majority of his game, hes gona have to work alot to be solid in the 3/4 spot. Have you not seen any vids of his shot? I can only hope he can play good D next year. Hes got solid size in the form that hes well built and can move well. Hes alot like Lazar(without the proven College Talent). So yeah he should be quick enough to use his size and strength against a guy like Waiters.

Should someone who can't spell the word eligible be commenting on a high school senior?

I said I heard he may not be. I didnt make fun of him. Its a damn message board, not grammar class. Get out more and worry about thing other than proper spelling of a message board

I've seen videos but that doesn't mean much.

Sounds like we have nine guys for three spots. And if Crowder can keep a PG like Waiters out of the lane he'll not only start but he'll be the conference's defensive player of the year.

PGsHeroes32

now im not sure he is conference defensive player by any means, and I dont think a freshman being stopped could give you that title. Crowder will get PT, but we do have alot of guys for the same spots.

Just as a heads up, he is playing at 12:30 CT today on ESPN in the championship vs Findlay Prep.

I think the caliber of players that Buzz is bringing in is what really excites us.
Guys who will take it to the rim without fear is probably the difference between his signees and Crean's.

Dunking is just one talent and should not be extolled over other aspects of a player's game, but if the kid can shoot, pass, AND dunk, he should be one heckuva player for MU.

Dwyane Wade, Wes Matthews and Jerel McNeal were chickens when it came to taking it to the rim. And Lazar Hayward is/was a big scaredy cat.

I realize plenty here don't like Crean ... often for good reason.
But c'mon. Really?

Agreed.  Out of Buzz's recruits, it seems Buycks is the most fearless at going to the rim.

Jimmy Butler was always at the rim, as evidenced by the number of FT attempts.

PGsHeroes32

Jamail will take over that next year. He just threw down another 1 handed slam. Jay williams said he talked to buzz and buzz said he will play and have an immediate impact.
