Dominic gets 2 mentions for his A.I. style. Also mentions Vanilla Ice's 'do.

The Kill Bill
Dominic James, 5-11 guard, Soph., Marquette
Classification: Golden overdose
Submitted: by an anonymous reader (take credit in the comments!)
Notes: James periodically goes on a color-coordination binge, matching his arm sleeve and high socks with his gold jersey. He actually wears two arm sleeves, with the base layer handed down from Allen Iverson.

Scorers' Sleeve
Dominic James, 5-11 guard, Soph., Marquette
Classification: Iverson-style arm sleeve
Spotted: Nov. 21 vs. Duke by The Blog
Notes: James' all-around game is worthy of an accessory that's worn for "medical reasons" -- aka, "for balling like A.I." James has been known to rock both the white sleeve/yellow jersey or black sleeve/white jersey look.

he also gets cramps regularly and when on the bench is generally in full warm-up. The sleeve is also most likely to help him keep his arm from cramping.

ZiggysFryBoy

he wears a pad under the sleeve to protect from falls, etc.  The outer sleeve is a compression sleeve to reduce cramping/increase airballs on 30 ft 3 pointers.  :D

PuertoRicanNightmare

Are you guys kidding? Nobody gets cramps in their arms. That sleeve is purely for show, which makes it even more remarkable that he doesn't just wear it on his left arm.

MikeyT42

can you tell me why DJ wears Thigh pads in his compression shorts. I've noticed them on a few occasions

PuertoRicanNightmare

My honest opinion is that he wears them because DWade wears them, just as I think he wears the arm sleeve because Iverson wears one.

SoCalwarrior

Whether or not they reduce cramps, it should be noted that DJ hasn't been rendered gimpy since the Duke game.  Someone deserves kudos for preventing what seemed to be an every game occurrence.

TallTitan34

The sleeves hold a protective elbow pad in place. Fitz wears the same.

🏀

I heard Dick Vitale told TallTitan34 that.

muwarrior87

and actually, it is possible to get cramps in your arm...i have. tricep. kinda important for a basketball player to not get cramps there.

Dude, get off of DJ. Good God.  ::)

Why do you hate everything he does?

Wade wears high socks and you don't say a thing, when DJ started it you said he is looking for attention. Maybe he just likes them, maybe they help keep his legs warm and prevent cramps, maybe his mom gave them to him, maybe they are good luck. Whatever. It doesn't matter.

Dude, the guy is the STARTING PG on a top 20 team. He also is a possible lottery pick. I'm sure he is getting PLENTY of attention.

I don't think he is wearing an arm sleeve, socks, or compression shorts to get more attention.

He's not a 13 year old.

PuertoRicanNightmare

I don't hate everything James does. I just think he's extremely immature.

And he has as much chance of getting into the NBA lottery as you do.

mugrad99

PRN calling someone extremely immature......

If you've ever talked with DJ he is a very mature individual.  Jacking up a few ill advised 3 pointers does not make a person immature.

Seriously, what the hell is your problem?

Maybe I should reconsider another year of working and enter my name in the 2007 NBA Draft. I had no idea that my chances were so good.

Dude... try to withold personal judgement on people that you don't know.

I don't think you really know DJ, and you shouldn't judge a man by his style and/or basketball related attire. That's really weak.

I don't think DJ is immature, but I don't know him personally, so I'm not going to spout off about it.

From all apperances and interviews etc. he seems to be a pretty well adjusted kid, and even if (I emphasize IF) DJ is a little immature, then he is just like every other 19 year old in the world.

I'm sure somebody else on this board could dig up the article about him and his brother... I think that gives you a pretty good idea on who the kid is.

What's more immature, wearing a gold sleeve on the court or posting about it on an internet message board?

If all honesty, did current administration and/or coaching staff do something to you personally? You seem to have an axe to grind about EVERYTHING MU hoops related.

Interesting point...

I guess all I can say is that any thoughts/opinions about PRN that I have are based off of his history of statements made here. I am not speculating on his personality overall, just his point of view based upon statements that he has made.

PRN, what has led you to believe that DJ is "extremely immature"? Are there statements he has made that lead you to believe this?

Is this based upon something besides his arm sleeve, shorts, socks and general on-court demeanor?

In all seriousness, I could be missing something here... I think the kid has been pretty good in all aspects... but maybe I don't know everything.

Fair enough.

This is a silly discussion anyways.
