Who thinks that this is the lowest talent level as a whole throughout college basketball since the turn of the millenium.  Watching these Sweet 16 games, it's almost embarrassing.  There are almost (or maybe are) more turnovers than field goals made in both of these games.  It's horrible.  Terrible turnovers, tons of missed wide open shots, bad defense, etc.

I feel like some of these teams playing this week would have been blown out in the 1st round last year.  The only team that I think would have even had a CHANCE to make the Final Four if they were put into last year's tournament is Kentucky.

Does anybody else feel the same way?

Weren't you listening. People were saying all along the bubble was soft this year.

Yeah a soft bubble, but that doesn't mean that the teams solidly in the tournament are bad, but they really are.

MU B2002

Both of the games tonight were brutal to watch for the first ten minutes.  Cuse looked like they were trying to set some sort of turnover record.  Then WVU, not to be outdone did the same.  I think at one point in the first wazu and wv had combined for 23 TOs and 28 points.

Syracuse either turned it over or shot an absolutely stupid shot almost every single time down.  Really unbeleivable decision making on almost every posession.

Why didn't Cuse play that bad when we played them?  And please don't tell me it was all Butler's defense.  Cuse couldn't even hold onto the ball.

By the way, anyone see Boeheim barely shake hands and not even say anything nor look Stevens in the eye on the handshake?  I know they happen a lot but you figure for a tourney game Boeheim would bring a little more class to the table.

MU B2002

ugh.  Stupid cuse.  Now i get to hear tomorrow about how overrated the big east teams are.  Gosh i hate living in sec country.  Go big red!

Hate to say it but Big East was overrated this year.  It sucks but it's true.

(sigh)i know, but kentucky fans have been to much to deal with this year, not that they r ever a joy.

That may be true.  But I would also like to see how some other conferences teams 5-8 would have fared.  The BE teams 6-8 were often facing teams 1 or 2 in other conferences.  See MU v Wash.  The 2nd place pac 10 team should win against a team tied for 5th in another conference.

Washington just looks horrid.  WVU just good enough.

+1

Villanova went out the same way, stupid rushed shot after stupid rushed shot.  UConn made horrid offense an art form this year.  The one thing I've noticed in this year's tournament is that we're the only Big East team that runs an actual offense (you know, that's when all the guys on the team work in concert to get a good shot) .  Now if we could have played defense, we'd have been great.

Been saying it all year long....also said the Big East isn't that great this year and that's looking pretty good as well.  Yes, the conference was ranked 2nd or 3rd, but college basketball is not that good this year.

It's one of the reasons I had UW-madison going far, glad that didn't work out.  Felt like a disciplined team like them could go far.

Can't wait to expand to 96 teams

Who said the Big East was so great this year?  The Big East teams lost a ton of talent from last year.  All of them had weaknesses.  Syracuse and West Virginia don't really have the guard play.  I don't know how Pitt finished second.  Nova disappointed and we finished 5th with no height and no depth whatsoever.  Solid teams throughout but nothing spectacular.  In the year of the soft bubble, we had a lot of soft teams.

cheebs09

At the start of the year everyone thought that the Big East was really down this year. I think the problem is that the Big East didn't really have a great team and was overrated this year because all the teams were solid and tourney teams so it looked much tougher, but there wasn't any other conference that really stepped up and was far and away the best. Even in the tournament, is there really a conference that has looked great. Big 10 maybe with 3 teams left. Big 12 too. I think the Big 12 was the best during the year, but their best team went out 2nd round. Does that mean they are really overrated? So sure the Big East was overrated a little bit, but I think that comes from having a lot of pretty good tourney teams and the rest of the conferences not exactly running away with the title as best conference.

Doesn't take away from great games in the tournament, of which there have been a ton of them.  Most of the crappy basketball has been played by the big boys.

karavotsos

The Xavier-KState game is as good as the Cuse game was bad.  Not sure if these are big basketball schools or not.  Kind of tweeners.

Gus Johnson is going INSANE right now with four minutes to go.  What an announcer and a pretty good game also.

MU B2002

i may have missed it last year, but "RISE AND FIRE" seems to be his favorite now.

yep, game of the night...but two huge missed calls got the musketeers into OT.
lets see if they can capitalize!

Yup, this is a great game.  And not just great because it's a tight game, but also because they're playing good basketball (unlike the 3 other games that occurred earlier tonight).

Gus Johnson is one of my favorites.  Before the tip-off of the first game, he was reading the copy for the sponsoring of the tip off.  "L.G. - LIIIFFFEEESS GOOOOOOODDDDD"

Dude gets fired up for the tag lines!  What's not to like???
