to lose. I really thought we were in great shape. I am stunned at the total collapse. Forget the "ref whining" that will come. How does this happen?? We have never had this good a lead most of the season. I am so bummed. This game should have been closed out by MU. This is a tough pill to swallow for sure.

Blackhat

I knew they would come back.   We played terrible defense which means it's always a game.

Buzz still has a lot to prove as far as if he can coach defense, imo.

These total defensive disaster games don't happen to well coached defensive teams.

It hurts but I'm not going to meltdown.

The guys exceeded my expectations, it's just sad we played such a fundamentally poor game on the defensive end which lies on the coach cause our guys were trying.

It wasn't our defense that lost this game...it was UW defense on us that won the game.  And I will use the officiating as an excuse.  When UW went down 15..they basically said..we have nothing to lose..let's overdeny, pressure the sh$t, out of the ball...and they didn't get 1 foul called on them for hacking the helll out of Acker.  We had foul trouble in 1st half, when game was whistled tight.  Refs swallowed whistle in 2nd half..yet Mo Acker had 4, Fulce 3, Hayward was in foul trouble..

Dude......Washington shot approximately 60 friggin percent against us.   Our defense lost us the game.

Was not Buzz's best showing.....came out of halftime and looked like the coach of the year with incredible adjustments and a huge run.  Then looked like the worst coach in the country over the last ten minutes.....I've never seen a team hold a lead by trying to eat time off the clock - always seems to disrupt your offensive rhythm and help the other team get back in the game....well at least the Buzz coaching rumor mill should stop and should as a Sweet 16 appearance would of just kept his name floating out there.....based on this loss he needs to get back to work and be wiser and smarter going forward.

We still love you Buzz but this one had me holding my nose as it was there for the taking.....never take your foot off the opponents throat as it was clear the officials were not on our side and were going to do everything they could to enhance the Washington run and they certainly did.

WellsstreetWanderer

I kept looking for adjustments that didn't come. disappointed in defensive plan as they scored at will in second half. we should have matched their intensity but sat back

NersEllenson

We couldn't defend because the game wasn't being called evenly..we got called for tick tack fouls, yet UW could molest Mo and Cooby in the 2nd half..and not 1 foul called..except when Mo got called for the offensive fould..when (after about 25 feet of the UW player riding his body) dropped his shoulder just a bit to create some space).

I'm sorry you guyst can't see that the officiating in this game KILLED MU.  It wasn't bad coaching.  Hell we lost to the Pac 10 champ, on virtually their home floor, and they were a preseason 11-14 ranked team.  End of year Pomroy ratings:  MU 28, UW 29.  This game was a toss up either way.  Buzz didn't take foot off of gas..UW took it to us defensively...hell we had 1 thread started in the 1st half asking for Buzz to slow it down.  You can't win with some of you fans.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't

I could not agree more about the adjustments!!!

Yeah, the number of fouls called changed our style of play, but the lack of adjustments to UW's second half plan was so frustrating! We saw this all year, though. Unfortunately, this is why second year head coaches don't often find themselves in an elite conference and in big time games. Buzz has a steep learning curve, and hopefully he'll continue to pick up quickly

don't you get it, it is the refs fault we let them shoot 60% from the field.  Also, if you do not blame the refs for this lost, you are not a Marquette fan or know anything about basketball.

Dr. Blackheart

MU gave back big leads all year.  It is a credit to Buzz that we were even in so many games, but we need Bigs to improve our team defense.  When we are giving away layups (PIP) the lack of a true Big front line will continue to haunt MU.  Next year could be our rebuilding year.  The Buzzer needs to go deep on the front line, plain and simple.  We will miss Lazar badly.

Take a hike back to the Mizzou board douche.

Stay classy Ners!!

You prove to everyone that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.  You just make excuses, whine and call people names.

Nice knowledge.

Will do Ron Burgandy - your posting history speaks for itself.  It's pretty lame to come to a team's message board that you have been absent from for almost 1 year...to rub in a tough loss..now that is classy dude.  Your posting history, and absence speak for themself.  You are a major league douche. Do you really not have anything better to do with your life?  The last thing I'd do is go to an opposing team's message board and verbally joust with that teams fans - I don't care about their program, so why waste my time?  I guess your time isn't quite as valuable.

With our guys up 15 UW turned up the pressure in a last ditch effort and we buckled.  Turn overs from DJO and Lazar.  I believe there were 4 straight trips that we didn't even get a shot up.  Yes its true there were some bad calls but more than anything our guys couldn't rise to to the occasion and get a couple more buckets that would have stopped the run.  Then in the final minute they miss a shot but then we fail to get the rebound.
Hard to be too upset.  Our team over achieved.  UW was no 11 seed.  They looked great in the first half.  I felt we were lucky to hang with them.
Lets get some Big East quality talent so we don't have to rely on 7 guys playing at 110% and can bring in a hot hand when others are cold or tired.  We'll be back and then we'll win these games.

Rubbing what in?  I am a Marquette fan that lives in Missouri.  I watch every Marquette game.  My fault, that I do not post very often but I rather do that than just blame the refs for everything and call people names.  Once again, stay classy Ners.  Continue to call everyone names like a child.
