It's not a grudge and there's nothing to forgive. I don't like him.

I believe every reason you don't like the man could be a reason to forgive his faults and move on.

Thanks CrimsonnCream..

I'd give Crean a little more time.   He needs to get a Stud recruiter on board otherwise your hunch is right.   If he gets the talent you guys will be sitting good in a few years.

Not Kentucky good.  But you need to sell your soul to the devil to do that.

Golden Avalanche

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

It seems some people don't understand that Crean is good for Marquette. Whether he is a self-serving, ego-maniacal dickface he still always references success at Marquette. Some fans on here spend so much time crying that 'ESPN people' or 'stupid bloggers' or 'so-and-so fans of school X', et al. don't give MU enough credit for their recent successes so being slurped from any spot is a positive in my mind.

96warrior

Can we just lock this sh!t up, at least through tourney time? Does this really have any relevance? There are Crean haters and people who don't mind Crean and people who still love Crean. Crean has been gone for 2 years. Can we just lock this topic up until we get through the rest of this season with our current coach and players?

Unbelievably spot on for this board.  He may promote himself a lot, but he keeps our name in his mouth a lot when he does it.

We had a 4.4 earthquake hit this morning at about 4am.  I was awake writing notes for the upcoming day when it struck.  The kids (rooms are upstairs) were scared so I got them and brought them down to bed with us

My daughter asked why it happened.  Now, being the son of a geologist and a geophysicist, I could have gone into all the stuff about platetonics and such.  Instead, I gave her the obvious answer.  Tom Crean was to blame

He may "rock" your world. Not mine.

I couldn't agree more. He congratulated us on making the tourney. Take it at face value and move on.

Haha,  Good luck convincing people to do that.    This is the same group who demonized him for donating money to the soccer field.

Warriors4ever

I also thought it was ridiculous for him to use the term "we", but I am taking it at face value as a congratulations to the team, that's nice and now let's go play the game.  Go Warriors!

This is pretty insightful.  At some point, recruits are going to start wondering why they should go to Indiana and suck when they could go to Marquette and enjoy continued success.

I have not met anyone from MU who still loves Crean.

to be fair, he said he would donate the money, then never did.

IIRC.

If you're going to brag about being the son of a geologist and geophysicist, I hope you would at least get the term plate tectonics correct.

Cool story though.

So TC called a press conference to announce a personal donation that he later reneged on? Wow. Talk about "character revealing itself".

NersEllenson

I don't have a problem with his tweet, but I do find it somewhat unusual for a coach to publically congratulate his old school, that he voluntarily left.  I'll take it as a somewhat classy gesture, but also feel it might illustrat a small degree of regret or second guessing himself  for leaving.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I'm just glad the cat believed we could compete in the Big East and delivered the goods.  I remember a certain other former Marquette coach who is beloved here (despite walking away from MU in May or June) who said not only didn't we belong in the Big East but we would not fair well in the league.  I'm glad TC had a bit more confidence in us than Rick Majerus did.

Blackhat

TC really backed out on his soccer field donation?

Wow.

Missed the Press Conference on that.

It was on the iPhone which is a fat fingering nightmare to type on my friend.  You get what you get from me on the iPhone.   :)

@CoachTomCrean is tweeting again http://twitter.com/CoachTomCrean:

"Selection Sunday was hard. 3 Seniors that I recruited at Marquette are dancin."
"But I get to go out on the road recruiting! Too much dead weight on this team, time for some Housecreaning!"
"You know, I do get credit for getting Marquette to a big time conference."
"But were Indiana!!"

Personally I thought that was pretty classy of Crean to put on there, keep in mind he didn't have to say anything...

NavinRJohnson

His motivation is obvious...to help himself/I4, but I see nothing wrong with that, as building up that program is his job. Those suggesting that he did it just to be a good guy are silly though.

So he's continuing to run off a few more kids that he bs'ed into believing in Crean. Wow, some things never change. What a complete dickhead.
BTW, the proper credit for joining the Big East goes to the current administration who showed commitment to men's basketball and MU athletics in general. And that includes raising coaches salaries to compete.

You realize that's the fake twitter account, right?

LCDutchman

How right you were, Chipos. You should also have told your kids that if they get a whiff of sulphur to surely look to see if Tom Crean is in the room.
In heaven Marquette always beats Wisconsin

ChicosBailBonds

Could you give us an update on the new soccer stadium project.

There was a lot of talk in 2007 from several donors.  What is the status of the stadium?
