There are a lot of others doing it now.  The Oregon doctors include a recovery kit that includes a t-shirt, cooler and bag of peas for those "tender moments"!

I am living proof that this is an excellent strategy.  Let your wife know that the recovery time is 3-4 days and that you must not be climbed upon.  And that you are doing this for her.  She will be grateful and you can watch 4 days of wall-to-wall ball.

I did it for real in March Madness 96 after my 4th child.  She left me alone for the weekend with a 12 pack, the remote and my vile of pills.  I have been asking the doctor to state, officially to my wife, that it reconnected and needs to be snipped again. I am dead serious.
