That sucks.  Hope he can get it under control with his doctors.

Just saw that, not good. Good they found out that he has diabetes.

As much as that sucks, it's nice to be surrounded by doctors and persons monitoring his physical activity and diet.  He's in a great position to learn how to manage his lifestyle now before any of the more serious symptoms manifest themselves.  It also helps that he's in great shape and used to being disciplined about working out and controlling his diet.

Best of luck to Freeman.

Totally agree. Best of luck to Freeman.

That's unfortunate for Freeman, however on the bright side, there are a few noteable athletes that have diabetes and still compete at the highest level.  Jay Cutler, and Adam Morrison both have diabetes.  Best of luck to Freeman.

I wouldn't say Adam Morrison competes.

Ron Santo is another notable athlete who played with diabetes at a time when little was known about it.

Did you know Mo Acker is the shortest player in the Big East?

Seriously - best to Freeman.

That definitely is a bummer but it's good they figured out what was going on.  Diabetes is usually pretty manageable and I'm sure he can continue to compete at a high level if he makes the appropriate lifestyle changes to keep it in check.

This might not be the right thread for this, but does anybody know whether or not Jay Cutler has diabetes?  I've always wondered.

Fortunately, modern medicine has progressed and enough is understood about the disease so that Austin hopefully doesn't have to suffer the same fate as Ron.

Like Gottlieb said, it's a diet change, it's a lifestyle change, but not a death sentence.  It is something that can be controlled for many; let's hope that Austin is one of the lucky ones.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

He does-- a couple of people on the thread have mentioned it.  Here's an interesting article that talks about his ordeal if you're interested:

You should take your sarcasm-detector into the shop for a tune-up.

Thanks for the suggestion?  I don't really see why that was necessary.  His comment looked like it could have gone either way but I'm not going to go and assume (unless there was teal, of course).

It was the 4th time someone had mentioned Jay Cutler having diabetes in this thread and you still need the comment in teal to make sure it's sarcasm?

He caught diabetes from the same gigolo that gave him the clap back in the mid 90s.

Cutler's performance last year was a diabeating.

I'm pretty sure Ahman Green has diabetes as well.

Being a life long Husker fan I am pretty sure that is false.

Freeman of the Georgetown Hoyas was diagnosed with diabetes the other day. I have diabetes myself and feel for this guy, I only wish him the best (that is of we don't play them again).
