Except for some tough losses, the Golden Eagles stats line is off the chart good.  Possibly the best ballhandling and 3 point team in the country.  A few paint issues, but that comes with the teams speedy make-up.  Buzz will make the team a difficult for any team in the country - personally would like to see KU or UK play MU

Yup, I agree, Marquette is off the charts statistically in not turning the ball over and 3 point shooting.  Ken Pomeroy has some nice stats on his site too.

8th in the country not turning over the ball is great.  I'll take 40% from three any year of the decade.

Interesting to note Notre Dame in this Index gets an F in 3pt FG% defense and ranks 311 out of (I think) 344 Division 1 teams.  Also interesting to note that while ND is Number 1 in offensive Assist to Turnover ratio in the nation, they are pretty poor in overall Turnover Margin for games ranked 188, whereas MU is ranked 7th.  What this means is they don't create many turnovers with their defense, whereas we do..so that should generate extra possesions for MU

Dude, I want no piece of UK or KU.  Especially UK.  Cousins is the best big man in the country.  He gets one offensive rebound out of every four opportunities.  I think that would be a nightmare.  If we want any chance to win, we could have to be lights out from three.

I think Lazar or Jimmy could get under his skin so much that the dude would certainly take a swing at one of them...he's a ticking time bomb

Interesting to note that some have argued we dont' seem to be as good under Buzz at defense, than we were with Crean.  Take a look..but we all know Buzz is a huge fan of NOT getting in foul trouble, and putting the other team at the line..so we win the free throw attempts battle.  That said, theoretically if you take a bit of agressiveness out of the defense (by not being as foul prone) you would think FG% would be a bit higher..which was prove during 06,07,08..but interesting to see how well 2010 is performing in these categories.

Year   Div 1 Rank Fouls    Div Rank Defense FG%
2006       219                        189
2007       266                         79
2008       301                         79
2009       123                        211
2010        76                          68

I think the perception comes from the different styles.  Crean preached deflections and turnovers, which led to fast breaks and foul trouble.  Buzz preaches lack of fouls and lack of turnovers on our own end, which can lead to a string of uncontested dunks (see Pitt) and the perception of not caring about defense.

Sorry, but Aldrich would kill us if we played KU it would just be a repeat blowout of the FF. UK though is young and can probably be beaten even though we don't have a true big man. I agree with Lance that we could probably get under Cousin's skin because he is a Freshman and is inexperienced.

A lot of people are predicting that Kentucky will be playing in Milwaukee as a 1 seed.  That means we wouldn't be matched up against them should we get an 8 or 9.

I would be thrilled to get Kentucky in a home game in Milwaukee.  They're young, talented but stupid.  My rankings (http://www.thepowerrank.com/) says they're overrated, and a game with us would be very close.

Unfortunately it can't happen.  MU can't play the first two rounds in Milwaukee.

I would rather play Kentucky than Kansas.  Kentucky is full of freshman, Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe.  Their inexperience could be a problem.  Kansas has plenty of big game experience.  Sherron Collins is one of the best big men in the nation, and Cole Aldrige is probably the best center.  How would we stop the 7'1 Aldrige?  He would eat us alive... Yikes.

I agree, and I have been saying as much for a week.  Bring on UK.
