another W.

Us and Pitt are the only teams to get 10 wins each season in the Beast.

KipsBayEagle

I don't wanna jinx it, but I think 10 wins locks in a bid.

HoopsMalone

Not many thought we would be here.  Tip of the hat to Buzz and the team.

If we lose out lose in the first game of the BET, no way we make it. Our RPI would be in the high 60s - low 70s.

We need one more.

Blackhat

Nobody should have thought we'd be here.  Very happy we are.   Great job Buzz and boys!!

PGsHeroes32

We should be in as long as we dont lose 3 straight
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

MU83

I think we really need to beat Louisville to get another quality win on our resume.  The Georgetown win keeps looking worse and worse, although the Xavier win is looking better.  It's great that we've been winning, and because they've been such tough games, we may believe we deserve a bid, but when the season is over and you look at who we beat, I'm still a little nervous.

Hopefully we have the best crowd of the year against Louisville; we will need it.

flash

I found that unbelievable that us and pitt are the only teams to have 10 big east wins in 5 straight seasons.

HoopsMalone

If our threes start falling again, we should have no problems these last two games.  Besides the first few minutes today, the shooting from three has been pretty bad.

Apparently you've not watched Louisville or Notre Dame play lately.  Both are considerably better than the last three teams we beat--all in OT.

romey

It's funny you say that because everytime they throw up our post season resume, I think - it's not that impressive.  The biggest plus I see is our record in the BEast.  Our top wins are comparable to (or less impressive) than other bubble teams, our RPI and strength of schedule are middle of the road or worse, our bad losses are bad, and our record against top 50 is 3-7 (I think).  When compared to Seton Hall's (mid-game they put them up) I thought, if it weren't for the BEast record, they look better than us.  So we definitely need to beat Louisville in my opinion so we don't have to rely on others to lose..

redddog13

Apparently you have missed MU playing too.

Actuall I have.  ND is hot right now, but they are a shooting team who is rather slow.  That is a good matchup for us.  They will cool off, and we always beat ND at home.  Georgetown is slow, so that was a good matchup for them.  Jimmy and DJO will be tough for ND to keep out of the lane.

Louisville always comes in and plays well so we really need to knock down shots in that game.

MU83

I agree.  I think both games are winnable, and being at home will certainly help.

Daniel

This was another remarkable win - unreal to win  3 OT games in a row on the road.  Wow - props to the team and Buzz and staff for keeping this team very very focused.

We need to take care of Louisville.  I hope Louisville goes to triple ot today - lol.  Wow - WE ARE MARQUETTE!!

FTs were big at the end of this game, with Mo hitting 4 in a row - terrific effort all around - because SH really domintated us in the paint!

Eye

While the double-digit wins in all 5 years of the expanded league along with Pitt is a nice stat, I think a better stat is that MU, with a split of the two home games next week, will be the only team in the 5 years of the expanded BE to finish at least 4 games over .500 in league play each of those seasons.
GO WARRIORS!

MUBurrow

You mean when we were impressively taken to OT by St Johns and Seton Hall?

Windyplayer

Louisville lost both of those games. Let's not downplay these wins.

Damm!  That is impressive.  I think that would entitled us to say that we are the most consistently very good team in the five years of the expanded Big East.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

"Not many", really there were some who thought we would be?

I can't claim to be smart enough (or more likely blindly loyal enough) to have hoped for this.  It won't happen, but if Buzz isn't coach of the year, the voting is neither informed or fair.

People were way too down on the team before the season.  I have nothing to back it up, so you'll probably all think I'm lying, but I hoped/thought in the offseason that we could get 9-10 wins in conference.  I know we lost a lot, but that means we gained a lot too.  I had confidence that Buzz would bring in Big East quality players.

Benny B

Before the season began, and before the injuries, this is almost exactly where I predicted MU to be with two games to go.  But there's no way I would have ever predicted this team going over .500 in the BEast after losing Junior and Chris for the bulk of the season.

Has this team overachieved?  I would say no, that rather they're simply "achieving" and 99% of America simply underestimated the new talent (e.g. DJO) and improvement of Jimmy, Coobie and Mo.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I didn't think that we'd do well, and other than DJO, our newcomers this season haven't provided us with a whole lot.  If I told you before the season that we'd lose Cadougan and Otule for basically the season, that Maymon would quit the team in December, and that Mbao and Williams wouldn't get off the pine, I think most of us would have thought this would not even be an NIT season.

What Buzz and these guys have done so far is incredible.  The job isn't done, though.  Absolutely have to get one more, and we would have no worries about making the tournament if we can get two more wins.

With 7 new comers, loosing OTule and Junior to injury, having Maymon and Roseboro leave the program, many were just hoping for a trip to the NIT's

http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=15378.0

The "other" site had an expectations thread where many people were "hoping" for a 9-9 Beast finish, me included.

I'm very impressed with Buzz and the guys.  They've busted their @ss's this year and in many people's views, whether they admit it or not, they have overachieved.  Heck, many people picked us to finish below St. Johns.

Well done MU,
