Here's the quote that he posted on the Xaxier message board.

Quote"Asking for the LOUDEST game ever in the history of the Cintas Center. You say NO students. I say NO excuse. We need our fans to be a TRUE 6th man this Sunday at 1pm. Our team needs you early. Our team needs you loud. If you're just going to come to the game to watch, give your tickets up. Heck, you can WATCH from home. I want our arena rocking!! Calling all PARTICIPANTS. This isn't a marketing ploy. This is your head coach, sitting at his home computer asking for the best fans in the country to come alive for 40 game minutes on Sunday LIKE NEVER BEFORE. A-10 teams dislike coming to our incredible arena. They need to FEAR it. I know the 5 guys on the floor and our bench will play very hard for you on Sunday. We need the 10,250 in blue seats to be one big, living, breathing, loud and raucous 6th man. I want EVERYTHING you have. I want a curfew of midnight for all ticket holders. You're going to need your rest. Sunday will be the most fun you've ever had at a Xavier game. ... Wear blue. Stand. Be loud. Get it done. I realize not all Xavier fans come to message boards. That's okay. Copy and paste this and email your X friends. ... I want to win. Our players want to win. Help be the reason we win! Let's get it!!!!!"

Buzz would be a great addition to our message board as far as the narrow context of our entertainment goes.  But I would hope Buzz would never say anything like that...

I simple "come on out" is all that was needed.

PGsHeroes32

Are you kidding? What Mack said is awesome. Over on Cbs everyone is digging that he would say soemthing like that. Thats the beauty of college basketball, all the passion.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

In the "virtual age" this is no different than coaches coming over to a campus bar to thank the fans for coming to the game.

Kind of like when Mike Deane would stop by Turner's after a game. Except Xavier's coach probably wasn't drunk and hitting on co-eds on the Xavier Message Board.
We Are Marquette

Relax, he probably has an attendance clause in his contract. Sounds like something Crean would do.
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

PuertoRicanNightmare

I think it's funny that he did that. I didn't see any mention of when "Cotton Eyed Joe" would be cued up.

PS: I'm Buzz Williams

Knight Commission

Kudos to Chris Mack. He has had tough acts to follow...but seems to be doing a pretty good job and warming to the alumni and students.

Hilarious. +1

I'm shocked you don't see more coaches doing this. There are a lot of "rah rah" types in CBB, and the message board is such an obvious way to connect with fan base. At least this is a gentle reminder that the higher ups do know sites like this are out there, and most likely read or dabble from time to time. Let us just hope Buzz never comes on here after a loss.

ZiggysFryBoy

Buzz on the board would be awesome.

"Rocky, he's alright.  Topper is bad but he's getting better.  4never should go back to playin marbles, he's no good.  Ziggy's lightbulb has come on, he's good, not great."

Buzz would get better questions from people here than from that shill (or "MU whore" as Belling calls him) Steve True.  But for all the talk about how great a guy Williams is, don't forget his treatment of Jim Mcllvaine last season.

His treatment of Mac?  Please.  He got a little testy in an interview, and apologized.

Sweet faux outrage gumbo.

Hearing a question wrong, overreacting, publicly and privately apologizing and not doing it again.    What a jerk.    Keep trying pokey.   You probably complain during sex.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Belling is an ass

He can be (he also blows away the competition in ratings).  But he is 100% correct about Homer.  True even calls himself "Chief Apologist" for MU.

You realize that's his job, right?  He did the same thing when he was the announcer for Wisconsin decades ago, that's what earned him the nickname.
