Jeez, what horse crap.  He sounded like a middle schooler reading his lines at a school play.

I heard it on radio driving in....on the radio sounded like a robot.  When I saw clips of it later on video, looked a little better seeing his reaction.

But at the end of the day, everything is 100% controlled out of his camp, including this apology tour.

What are the odds that he wins the Masters? I see him winning by 3-5 strokes.

I don't think he gives a crap about this apology or his "rehab".  Just needs to make it look good for his sponsors and the tour.

People say he sounded like a robot, well folks look at how he played golf and did business very very methodical and precise. He made some mistakes and is working at recovery.

Just another spoiled, entitled athlete that plays by different rules.  Yeah, that sounds bitter, oh well.  I'll never understand why these guys get married and put themselves in these situations.

Play and screw as much as you want and get married when you're 45 or something.  Don't put yourself in this situation.  If you want to get married, then get marred and abide by that commitment.  If not, don't do it.

Don't bother watching it, just wait for the SNL skit tomorrow night.

Correct and correct.  The "Tiger Machine" called the shots today.  The staring at the cameras at various statements was strange and methodical.  Budahism context was also strange, he said that for his mother who was in front row.

Wait till he gets the hardball questions (even though he won't answer them) thrown his way by the golf writers and watch him weave and duck.  TMZ hunting will be in full force.  That will be entertaining.

If his short game is still there, yes he will be favored to win at Augusta.

How can a billionaire who is sleeping with dozens of beautiful women be whining about it? His only mistake is getting married.

Team Woods would not let this be even the slightest bit spontaneous or unscripted.   I got the feel of somebody who had come to another step in a 12 step program.   He is supposed to apologize to his friends.    Rather than draw it out, he brought them all together and also, in the name of efficiency, broadcast it to the world.   Contrition?    Check.    Accepting responsibility?    Check.   Attempting to end any questions about and take the spotlight off of the rest of his family?   Check.    Acknowledgement of a higher power?    Check.    More work to be done?    Check.       All of the boxes got checked and he can move on to the next phase.

If Tiger Woods actually wrote his own statement, then one thing is clear: he took no English composition classes at Stanford.

Speaking of Buddhism, I believe it was Confucius who once said:

Man who drive well in fairway not always fare well in driveway.

I think his religion of Booty-ism is great.  It was all a lovely way to start off a morning.  His mother certainly looked pleased.

Let's be honest, he probably took no classes at Stanford.

the podium was a great idea. o.k., here's the scenario: the dude hasn't had a round for, let's say 2 months, or hasn't with a partner.  he comes(no pun intended) walking out to read his schtick and looks out at the gallery and sees.....women.  he  sprouts a driver you could pound railroad spikes in with.   ;D.

I wonder if, in the history of fame, there's ever been an apology where the audience sits back and says "wow.  That was a great apology.  You sound contrite, described your sins, and have asked for our forgiveness.   Pitch perfect."

Personally, I think he did fine.  Besides him being nailed to a cross while answering questions from the press, he said all the right things.

So what if it was scripted and he didn't deliver it tearfully, like a male Meryl Streep.

He should apologize for the fugly Perkins waitress.

Other than that, I couldn't care less he was plowing strange on the side.  I watch him golf, not give lessons on morality and fidelity.

EDIT:  In addition, it's exactly like the Chris Rock (I think) joke about only being as faithful as your options.  Tiger's got a lot of options.  I'm not saying I condone it though.

Andy Pettitte's apology for using steroids/HGH kind of became the model of all athletic apologies. It was really good and kind of became the industry standard (sad that baseball needs one of those).

That being said, Tiger was in a really tough spot. The text of the apology itself was fine. It just didn't seem very sincere with it being in such a controlled atmosphere and delivered in a very slow, cold, calculated way. It just didn't hit home.

Not that he had anything to apologize to me for. I could care less what he does. But he should have gotten some public speaking lessons.

4everwarriors

It wasn't his idea to apologize in the first place, nor did write it. Because of all the money involved for so many, many people, this was well staged and rehearsed all the way down to his mother's hug and her statement afterwards.
