Last Saturday night home game of the season (and against decent competition too)

Rest of the BC is almost sold out (only about 825 tickets left, per ticketmaster - mainly just upper corners not filled)

Playing a team whose leading scorer has guaranteed a win.

MU on a 4 game win streak

Will the students finally show up for a Big East game and fill up their section (or at least fill up most of it)?

boyonthedock

maybe. I know i will be in the student section.

APieperFan3

to kick off the big east season, quite a few of the student are still on break

one of my biggest scheduling complaints is that we always play UW-Madison on the Saturday before finals...sure, you still get a decent turn out of students and the ones who really want to be there will go...but it's nice for ALL the student to be able to go so that some of those student tickets dont fall into the wrong hands!!

nonetheless...i have spoken to some students and extra tickets in the section are becoming tough to come by...so thats a great sign!!!

MU by 10 this saturday!!!
The "average fan" is an idiot.

New Era Warriors

This game is a HOT ticket...I have 4 visitors coming up this weekend and we will all be in the student section. Almost everyone I know will be at the game Saturday night. It's gonna be packed (or close to it). Dominique Jones thinks it's tough to play in the Joyce Center...let's show him how tough the Bradley Center can get!

I wonder what percentage of MU students realize that USF is not going to be a walk in the park...

Very few. I expect no better than half the upper deck to be filled by gametime.

Ok I can no longer take the constant criticism of the student section. I am not going to say that this season the student section has been great, for that would be ignorant. However, I think many of you need to put this in perspective. The criticism has really flared up the last two games with Rutgers and Depaul. These are not quality opponents, and with the games being on weeknights, many students are not willing to sacrifice homework / study time to see MU go up against an inferior team. Since most fans are casual fans and not the type to post on this message board they are not as "into it" as we are. One have to realize that season ticket holder type fans are the vast minority.

In the past year I read an article that Duke was having trouble getting students to come to games. Now, certainly the Cameron Crazies show up for the big hyped ESPN games (as does MU students), but apparently for many other lower ACC teams and non-conferences games, the place isn't even full! UNC had a thread after their game against Presbyterian that there was little more than maybe 80? students in the whole place, and unless it is Duke or a highly ranked team, students rarely fill the place and are loud. Marquette I can promise had many, many more than that for our game against the same team. So maybe this criticism of our students should be relative.

Now some would say that Madison always has their section full, however if you look into this there is an obvious reason why. Students there have to fight desperately to get tickets to a limited number of games, supply and demand. Not to mention the size difference between the sections. Marquette students get a ticket to every game which ruins the novelty of going to some of the smaller ones. The fact is that our section is huge compared to our school size! Marquette can draw as much students as many other schools that are much bigger than us and still not look full.

I have heard that USF tickets are selling upwards of 30 dollars and the place should be packed. The big games will come, and with them the students. It is the same everywhere across the country. Lay Off!!!

Getting students to the BC isn't a problem.  Getting the students that are there to get their lazy butts out of their seats to make any noise is the issue.  It's the worst year of students since Tom Crean's first couple years.

Students need to get their priorities straight.  Getting drunk and making a ridiculous amount of noise at the BC for games is priority number one!

This sentence is the only one I have issue with.

A.  We lost to DePaul earlier in the year and a lot of kids go to MU from the Chicago-area.  That should have been a bigger turnout.

B.  The DePaul game was at 6PM.  You can still go and have some fun and get home in plenty of time to do homework.

There was no excuse for that game.

Not to sound like a Badger fan or demand sources, but it seems kind of strange that UW-Madison's student section would be always full due to "supply and demand" yet you've said Duke and UNC aren't.  They aren't exactly low demand...tickets for games against "lesser" ACC opponents at Cameron can be close to $200 or more, so it would be strange that the students don't bother going to the games or selling to someone who will if there's someone willing to pay that much.  Maybe for student tickets they can't sell/can only sell to other students?

Pathetic. A bunch of stay-puff kids softer than downy snow. The real word is all about juggling, making things happen and being resourceful. Where is the commitment? The effort? Easily the worst student section in recent memory.

Wow, calm down. I was at these games. The point is try telling that to a girl with a passing interest in basketball! You have to realize that not all of the section is filled with people like you and I. The personal attacks are unwarranted.

We are not alone in this.  I believe the Badger Fans on their board were upset about their student section for the IL game @ the Kohl Hole.  Apparently, their student section was pretty sparse for that game.

Exactly, my point was casual fans don't show up for non-marquee games. I will be the first to eat the words if the section continues to suck with the upcoming games. My hunch I was attempting to make is it will be much better.

Couldnt agree more.  I attended Marquette from 2005-2009 and the student section was great.  This year, I returned to watch Marquette play Nova and I sat in the lower bowl and was ashamed of the students sitting there.  Not only were we playing a top 10 team, but we were on ESPN 2, yet the student section was lifeless.  People can argue that the game was over break, however, the entire lower bowl was full and half of the upper deck was full.  The place was dead silent for most of the game and the students couldnt even remain loud for the entire 35 seconds of the shot clock.  Simply put, they are pathetic and need to step their game up!

New Era Warriors

me, my 4 visitors, and my friends will be there around 7:00 probably in the upper deck somewhere, just like KCmastapeace...wasted. get a couple Bradley brews there and make some noise. the students that go there without having any pre-game beverages are usually the ones in the lower deck that make no noise. get rowdy my friends!

In that crowds defense, there were a lot of people who were not students in that section. MU sold GA tickets to the public to fill up the section as well.

That being said, even for games when it has been only students, they have been lifeless.

I'm bringing some ringers with me who can hopefully sneak into the student section.  ;)
