Maybe this is a better question for the MUScoop moderators, but do you think that our players get on this site?  How about former players and recruits?
Wouldn't it be cool if players were on here regularly, and responded to questions/comments?

4everwarriors

There's several ass-crack lickers and jock sniffers on board. Rumor has it that EAT is actually Erin Andrews , Chicos is Tom Crean, and Mr. Hayward is Joanie Crean.

No.

I'd rather players and recruits stay far far away from online message boards.

Like in the gym. In the classroom. In their apartments.

I echo that sentiment.

I thought MU84 was Joanie?

PRN is definitely Mike Deane.

yeah, i hope they don't see this.  while i think the board is, as a whole, well behaved, too much player interest would certainly turn this into a cheerleading outfit.  plus, have we learned nothing in the past year about player involvement on message boards?

HoopsMalone

I have heard that when athletes say they do not read the newspaper or watch Sportscenter that it is complete BS.  Same could be true of message boards.

Avenue Commons

It's a safe guess that most players (current and former) take a look at least once in a while. I mean, if there was a message board about your job, wouldn't you look at it?

McIlvaine told me that he reads the boards here and there just to get an idea of what topics are "hot" and of interest to MU fans. But he said he doesn't really read a lot of it, just looks for links to articles, etc.

Dwaine Streator posted on the old ringoutahoya.com board from time to time.

And can we ever forget how Dameon Mason's dad used to post on ringoutahoya.com? That was great. People would talk smack about DMas, then his Dad would post, and all these little ninnies would suck up and apologize and say they didn't mean anything mean, blah blah blah.

Coaches have a good idea of what is being discussed on the boards. They dont do it themselves, but someone in the program usually monitors them and reports back.

Players know these sites exist too.  I would hope they spend as little time reading as possible.

I don't think Crean knows how to use a computer

I frequent the Rivals college football board and I can tell you that players and recruits are most definitely browsing these boards from time to time. I am from Nebraska and on the Nebraska Rivals site alone there are at least 50,000 (probably a lot more, I have no way of knowing) paying members and the message board is extremely active, currently there are 1,200 on at 10 PM on a Friday. It is always interesting when there is a thread bashing a player or recruit and then one of their relatives or in the rare case the player will actually post in the thread to defend themselves. Even though this board isn't as active, you can bet the players check in on it to see what the fans are saying sometimes.

I feel this is the worst thing about these message boards. Posters seem to treat the board like they are sitting in a private room with their buddies and they can say whatever is on their mind. They feel free to post whatever they want because they can hide behind the anonymity of the internet and they are safely behind a computer screen. The line between constructive criticism and blatant insult is crossed far too often and I wish people would keep in mind players can and do read this stuff. Compared to the Rivals board this board is very G rated but it still happens sometimes.

Good to have you on.  You played in my era... sorry if you were one of the guys that stopped by the rugby party and got pelted by snowballs.
