If Tony Miller is still on O'Neill's staff when they come to Milwaukee, they should absolutely, positively retire his number. Look at those assist numbers!

Great news about the schedule...love it!

Perhaps Buzz looks at this as a homecoming game for a potential addition to the roster in Reggie Murphy?

Always thought that was a cool tradition Lute did down at Arizona --- recruit a kid from Wherever, USA and then schedule a game in their city.

This is a great way to expand the recruiting base.....Benford already recruits California aggressively, now MU will give kids, coaches and their families an audience.

Sorry to interrupt all the SoCal love  :P, but what does our noncon look like next year?

So far:
Seattle at home (multiple year series, right?)
USC away
UWM "away"
UWGB home
Bucky home
Paradise Jam

Any thing else confirmed?

No Paradise Jam in 2010, MU will play in that tourney in 2011.

CBE Classic (Kansas City) is on tap for MU next season. Kansas St, Duke, Gonzaga are the other name schools in this as well.

If I've got a job in Chicago after graduating from law school this spring, you can count me in for this game.

O'Neil was mentioned in the Chicago Sun Times today as a candidate for the DePaul job...the writer made it sound like he is interested.

Man, it's like we go to the same tournament scheduler as Duke.  Seems like we're in one with them every other year.  Hopefully both teams will meet in the final again.

So is this being done because we are close to a SoCal stud for next year in recruiting?

You can count me in for the USC/MU game, guess I won't have to plan a trip back to beer town.

BTW - MU also played in Anaheim two years ago, beating Kentucky and losing to Stanford.  I didn't make it to those games, but was at the Alabama game down in San Diego.  It was unbelievably lucky to have them play in So Cal 2 years in a row in tournament.

It has been years since we played a regular season game in Southern California.

Yikes, look at USC's non-conference schedule next year:

http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_14283713

QuoteUSC reached tentative agreements to play games with Kansas and Marquette next season, along with contests with this year's opponents, Texas, Nebraska and Tennessee.

It's all part of coach Kevin O'Neill's plan to beef up the Trojans' schedule in future years.

Kansas, Marquette, Texas, Nebraska, and Tennessee all in one season is pretty nuts.

Two out of three years, unless you're even luckier than you thought and managed to forget that Michigan State game.

The actual DeVry? No way. We have to be playing a satellite campus.

You can bet DeVry-Platteville alums refer to DeVry-Madison as "we."

Not sure about Seattle.  That was actually supposed to start with them coming here this year, but for whatever reason it didn't happen.  Maybe it got pushed back a year, maybe it got cancelled completely.

Speaking of Seattle University...yumma humma!

Kind of ironic, Chicos thouht the UWM & UWGB deals would kill off a good home and home and then immediately we sign one that takes us to Chicos backyard.

Cannot wait to welcome KO back to the BC in 2011.   We owe him eveything. Maybe that's the game where we retire Tony Miller's (or Damon's) number.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves....the non-conference schedule will take a hit and if we lose to UWM or UWGB, what did we gain?  NOTHING.

Wait a minute...you SAID playing @UWM and @UWGB would prohibit further road games.  You SAID that.  Now we're playing @UWM and @USC in the same season.

I said, clearly, that it would take away a road game.  I never said it would prohibit all further non-conference road games.  I also said, clearly, that this could work IF we are no longer relying on a specific number of home games for the budget.  In years past, we had to play a specific number for revenue, if MU was going to get away from that number than it could work.   Let's tell the entire story, shall we.  Thanks

Disagree on many levels.  This just makes the overall non-conference schedule less attractive.  You'll see less and less of NC State, Arizona, etc coming to town so we can play UWM, UWGB.  I wouldn't be happy if I was a season ticket holder IF it means less games of bigger teams coming in.  Unless I'm reading it wrong, I don't know how it can't have this effect.  Or, MU might be saying they don't need as many home games as in the past, but that would shock me from a revenue perspective.

Seems like you thought it would hurt the Non Conf.  It hasn't.  This season we played 1 away game, next season we're going to play 2.  But relax, the winner in this whole thing is you...you get a home game.

This debate was brought up in the "bucky goes down" thread to.  Funny read, (seeing I got schooled) and to Chicos credit he did stick to those points he noted above in this thread...but he did have this quote in regards to the UW-GB agreement:

"If we were a business, the CEO would be fired for this."

I don't want to be offensive to Chicos with this quote, especially because Chicos had a much more educated argument than I did in that thread, but I did want to use it to point out something we should all remember:  We are the message board idiots.  We don't know whats going on behind the scenes and we don't know all the information.  We apparently have a very capable administration so lets let them do their thing and give them the benefit of the doubt going forward.  Frankly, I think they have earned it.  We're almost two years from being blindsided by Crean leaving and look where we are.  From where I am standing, our program appears to be much better off than we were roughly 22 months ago.  Quite an accomplishment seeing how much the Crean departure shook up the entire University.

Finally, we obviously have the financial means to have deals with all three UW schools and still do a home and home with a major conf school.  For this fact alone, we should all be very happy today.
