The heads are stupid but harmless.......

the part of the games that does aggravate is the "Hey" song, (Rock n Roll Part II) in which the crowd chants "You Suck". This is always done with about 3 minutes left in the game, and occurs whether the game is close or MU is way ahead. Just feel that this detracts from what is an overall good college game experience.

I think they are stupid...that's all.  Nothing personal.

I love this part.

I think it was the Georgetown game where they had a "Where's Waldo?" promotion.  That went over like a fart in church.  It was embarrassing for everyone there.  The Kiss cam blows too.

Strokin 3s

Kiss cam has its moments, for example, I remember one guy leaning over to kiss his lady friend, blocking her view of the jumbotron, then at the same time squeezing air right over some nice endowments.  She had no clue and everyone thought they were just laughing cuz they made out.  Priceless.

SqueallyDRyan

kiss cam: yes
hey song: no
buzz's jacket: yes
big noggins: need more of them
lenny kravitz: they need to play at least 2 songs of his during the game, the team was a lot better when we had lenny crankin' every night ammirite???

Seriously? I find them embarrassing and bush league. I'd expect to see them somewhere like UIC. Marquette should be above that kind of hokiness

Actually, I would say a pair of reasons  ;)

i just mean that if we're going to have a couple of them, we should have a lot.  I'd like to see a ton of them or none of them

There was once a time that polyester leisure suits with white shoes were thought to be fashionable.

There was once a time when men wore hats.

There was once a time when people dressed up to fly on an aircraft.

There was once a time men wore their hair below their collar and had facial hair.

There was once a time women wore their hair in beehive hairdos.

There was once a time our telephones were hard wired to the wall.

There was once a time that Good Girls didn't.

There was once a time women wore something on their heads at Mass and the priest spoke in Latin.

There was once a time that Big Heads were unique and funny...

A lot of "Get off my lawn" syndrome in this thread.

The entire time i was reading this I kept thinking "is anyone complaining about this under 25?"

I still think it's a good idea to at least make an effort to look decent when flying. It distinguishes you from the rest of the vermin in every airport terminal.

Thank you

I agree with you PRN. Since deregulation brought down the cost of flying the Greyhound Terminals have been emptied and we are now sitting next to former Silver Dog passengers. Some people need to bathe, some require lessons in basic hygiene, many need to lose serious weight, some must stop eating legumes before flying. I recently had a guy in my aisle "reading" a Penthouse during the flight. Taste, manners, civility, and dignity are scarce commodities in the mean skies of the new century. Deregulating the airline industry was yet another example of Teddy Kennedy's shameful legacy.

You'll have to remind me what is "new" that people don't like.  If it is the Big Heads that have been around for about 4 seasons, I don't think they can be classified as new.

I'm 32 so not exactly a sr. citizen, I just think they were funny and unique when they were started, now ...not so much.  If they are going to keep them going, I like the ones that are a little more off the wall like Betty White, not totally irrelevant like Waldo.

Instead of worrying about big heads and whether they are cool or not, how about we worry about FILLING the student section no matter the night of the week or opponent. The student section is as lame as I have seen in an umber of years. Where the hell is your school pride???

QuoteI'm also sick and tired of that guy jumping up and down. I'm truly embarrassed for the other guy in his row that moves next to him just for that segment so he can get on the big screen, then moves back to his seat when it's over. Painful.

Jump around is Madison's song.  Why is no one else embarrassed by this?  As an undergrad, I always sat down when they played this, it took the wind right out of my sails.  Its about as great as the cute MU v. UW comparisons on the jumbotron when everyone sells their tickets to badger fans.

I know, I know, "Its a stadium song, they can't claim it!" blah blah blah. They can because they did it first and still do it best.  They have shirts with it printed and everything.  Its embarrassing to buy into it this much, play it at our games and try to use it to pump our crowd.  Its great that guy wants to be a fan, but come on, then find a uniquely Marquette schtick.

I'd like to be able to drop a "In my day the student section was incredible!" but, alas, I cannot. The MU student section wasn't very good then and it's not very good now. From my experience, Marquette students have what would be considered a low basketball IQ. They don't really have a good understanding of what's going on and they also aren't particularly engaged in the on-court happenings. They just like to chant "Airball" (before losing interest) and "Bulls**t" and boo whenever a call goes against MU, not matter how obvious it is. That's just the way it is. I'm actually surprised a student group hasn't formed in order bring some "structure" to the student section.

Oh, and the big heads are extremely stupid. The unveiling of the big head is hands-down the worst part of each game.*
