Better ball movement and he penetrates...his defense is weak though....but that'll improve as he gets into game shape..

Yes, but we are dead meat without a player taller than 6ft 6in .  Cuse dominating inside and thats the ballgame so far.

I would agree that Junior seemed to see the floor and the open man, despite his height, versus our other PG options in the brief time he was in there.

Selfishly though, (I'm a fan, not a playa) I would have liked for him to save his redshirt year and have four more years of eligibility after this on scholie.  We don't have the kind of team this year that best takes advantage of his skills and abilities. In a best case scenario, Otule comes back and is a physical force underneath with offensive skills around the basket, Mbao evolves into an intimidating, shot-blocking presence who can run the floor, EWill and Fulce continue to develop as Warriors if not studs and we add two other talented bigs that are substituted freely with the above.

I'm not holding my breath for any of the above to happen, but the wild card(s) that could change my thinking are the unknown bigs who aren't here yet.  I don't care if they show up by JC's junior year or even his senior campaign...but they are not on this team.

Again, it's easy and selfish for me to wish that a talented, highly recruited kid sit on the bench, get strong, learn the system and his teammates while biding his time for a fresh crew next year.  I don't see where he greatly  improves our chances of accomplishing anything significant this year. And as a fan, I would have taken this year as the building year that it was supposed to be, grow and learn and add JC to a stronger mix next year.

Rugger...how do you know what is going to happen 3-4 years from now?

Hes healthy, the coaches think he can help...he is, and should be, playing.

MUrugger

I have no clue what will happen 3-4 years from now.  As I said, I was speaking from my own selfish perspective, only knowing what I know now, and hoping that a guy like JC has some talented bigger guys to work with over the course of his MU career.  If he was playing with rather than against some of the guys in orange that he was competing against today my selfish perspective would be totally different.

Your point goes back to the question:  Is it Junior or the coaches or both who believe that he and the program are best served if he plays this year?

The Pickle

I was extremely surprised to see Junior play today only because with the injury he suffered I assumed he would be out the entire year.  I believe there was a post not too long ago discussing medical redshirts and how many games you are allowed to play and still receive one. The concensus was something like if you play less than 25% of the season you are still eligible.  Now, I know that works, say, if you are playing at the start of the season, get hurt, and take the redshirt, but does it work the other way?  Meaning, Cadougan hurt himself before the season, can he come back to play, compete in less than 25% or whatever the number of games are and still be allowed to redshirt this year?  It sounds shady and I doubt it but was just curious...

It is mutual. If it wasnt, he wouldnt be playing.

You can't play in the second half of the season if you wan't to take a medical redshirt.  So by him playing today this is the second half of the season so he can't take a medical redshirt.
