I know he's been in warm ups on the bench - probably dressed underneath - the past few games.

Muhoops85

He's not watching this time.   He is out there warming up with everyone else.   My guess is he's playing.

He's actually taking part in layups and shoot around as of now.  Looks like he is moving decent and may be available.

I hope not.

It's still early enough in the season that he could get some significant experience, but I would rather him be at full strength.

Unless there's a 90% chance he's somehow the missing piece that gets us to the tournament it's not worth wasting a year of eligibility.  You can count the number of freshmen on one hand that would step in from an achilles injury and make that much of a difference in the middle of the Big East season.  On the other hand, it's fantastic that we're going to have a freshman next year that has been warming up/possibly practicing with the team since January.

Mbakwe deja vu..........

Could it simply be that he gets a chance to warm up with the team, get a feeling for what it is like out there?
Reward, for the hard work?
Occum and his razor are your friends.........

I hope it's to get his spirits up and keep him connected with the team.

I'd be interesting to hear what the actual attendees will say about his cameo.

Whaddya know? Buzz says I am right.

From what Buzz said in the postgame, it sounds like Junior is close to at least being able to return.

WarriorHal

Wow. Buzz just said on the post game that he's not ruling out Junior playing this season. Will do what's best for the team and Junior long term. I hope not. I want Junior and Vander to be the back court for the next four years.

WxWarrior

According to Buzz, in his heart he feels JC could help in Feb and March.  Based on his post game interview, my bet is Junior gets garbage time at Depaul.  Though Buzz made a point of mentioning he has the kid's best interest in mind.

Big Papi

Sure sounds like Junior might be playing this season.  Way ahead of schedule.  Practiced 25 minutes yersterday.  Similar to DJO in terms of he is on a set number of minutes he can practice.  Buzz says: Does Junior help us in January?  Maybe.  Does Junior help us in February?  He thinks so.  Does Junior helps us in March?  He thinks so.  He will sit down with Junior and his Mom to determine what is in the best interest in Junior and the team.

Stated this team has been so short on bodies all year long, an extra body would be a huge help.  Not sure what happened this past week but it sounded like quite a few of the players were not able to participate in practice fully.  Based off of Buzz's comments, my guess is that he plays this year.

In what way?  Your post made it sound like JC's warming up was for novelty purposes while others say Buzz intends on actually playing him.

Based on the comments, I will almost...almost guarantee you he will play before the calendar says February. Let me preemptively address those of you that will blow a gasket when he does...its waste of a year of eligibility, etc...has it occurred to you that maybe these guys don't want to spend five years in college? If he thinks he may be able to get paid to play basketball someday, I'm pretty sure he would like to get on with. Beyond that, this team is pretty good, though extremely thin. He can help. If the doctors say its ok, and he wants to do it, as far as I'm concerned it is 100% his decision.

If Vander is as good as advertised, four years is wishful thinking.  I am not sure what will happen here but the extra body would be great.  Knowing how he used Butler, DJO, and Buycks in their first years, something tells me that Junior is probably pretty damn good.  I don't think Buzz would consider burning Junior's red shirt if he were planning on using him like the other freshmen.

Acker is playing 100 times better than I anticipated but I don't think we have any players with GREAT court vision and if Junior can fill that void, his return could have a huge impact.  Someone correct me out there... Junior isn't known for his shooting abilities, right?  I remember his strengths were his passing abilities and decision making.

While I would love the possibility of seeing junior play this season; I think playing him if he's anything less than 100% would be a disservice to JC and the program.

tower912

Buzz's MO is to not play a player before he is ready, to not give even gargage minutes unless the player has earned them.  IF Junior plays, it will be in a situation where he can compete and succeed.  He'll have to be able to defend at a reasonably high level and understand the switches.    And who does he take minutes from?     If he can come back and contribute to Buzz' standards after all this time off, he is something special.

He's very good, but I don't think he be at MU less than four years.  Hope he proves me wrong.

No question, Vander leaves early.

Big question in my mind.  I'd be more than happy to see Junior play this year if it's in his best interest.  I don't see Buzz having any trouble getting good guards to come to MU.
