Wow. When was the last time Creighton beat out IU for a player? And a stud big man at that. My guess is never.

Creighton Coach Dana Altman and the Echenique Family are pretty close.  This isnt really that insulting to IU, that he chose Creighton over them.

I'll say Benoit Benjamin who everyone in the country wanted.

This is silly, everyone knew this kid was going to Creighton as soon as he said he was transferring. I'm shocked....SHOCKED I TELL YA...that Mr. Hayward didn't know this.  All he had to do was go to the Maryland or Rutgers recruiting boards.  The IU fans knew from day one that there about a 2% chance, and with all the posting that Hayward does over there I'm rather surprised he didn't pick up on that.   ::)

Benoit Benjamin's Mom was "involved" with Creighton coach Wills Reed and that's the only way the kid ended up in Omaha. If that's how Dana Altman beat TC for this kid I'll apologize. Anything short of that (including Creighton coming in 2nd to Rutgers when none of the big boys wanted this kid) doesn't pass muster. Kids saying no to an alleged "top 5" program for an MVC school is as about as common as Halley's comet and is bad news for IU no matter how you spin it.

Ok, so if it was a foregone conclusion that he would be going to Creighton, why would IU bother?

Chico, you sure get bitter in a hurry.

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

First, it is best to be skeptical of where news outlets (even the good ones) say a kid is "considering."  Coaches find it pretty humurous when Player X commits to another school, and says he chose them over their school...knowing full well there wasnt an offer on the table. I.e...dont necessarly believe everything you read.

With the quick turnaround between Echinuque annoucning his transfer (Jan 8) and announcing on a school (Jan 13)...and the lack of visits...I am willing to bet this move was pretty well set for some time.

IU probably did call and kick the tires, as did many schools, but the relationship between Altman and the Family was all that mattered.

Why wasn't MU on his list? I'm not pro/ati-Crean here, I'd just love to land a player like this.

Nah, I just like to call out "rahtards" that don't have a clue.  This kid was never going anywhere but Creighton but Hayward wanted to do his typical dog and pony show.

Just the facts, I don't think it's that hard to ask.  When he doesn't use them, I'll be happy to assist because I'm a giving kind of guy.

I've enjoyed his posts on the IU board.

LT is right. Old gimpy legged Willis was checking Benjamin's momma's oil with his dipstick.
