Hayward, we agree....kids considering transferring all the time, many out of frustration.  Most schools and coaches use common sense and apply a standard "cooling off period" and you keep it within the organization.  When you put out a press release, that opens it up to the world, all the speculation, all the rumors, all the spin.  I don't think this has anything to do with being a man, I sure hope it wasn't done to prove a point in the press as I think that will come back to haunt Buzz and the program.  Praise in public, pummel in private...I don't know if you've heard that expression but that applies for coaching and management all the time.

Which question were you referencing, some of your posts have been deleted in the last 12 hours by the moderator and I can't keep up.  I'll attempt to answer your question, but I don't know what it is....thanks.

i agree with your first paragraph but my speculation would be waht if this is not the first time and Buzz is calling him out and in affect saying quitting around here is not taking lightly, drawing the line in the sand in effect

OBTW...none of my comments have been deleated.... my questions are in reply #17 of the Play of the game.... thread,   you made multiple posts while not answering the questions.

That's the same question going through my head.  Did Maymon threaten to quit and Buzz purposely escalated the situation to let all players in the program realize no matter how bad MU needs depth, height, etc. you never threaten to quit on your team.  His father having no knowledge of this is what takes me in this direction.  If it was based on playing time, or the lack of future big men recruited to MU, etc. you would think his dad would have been by his side throughout the process.  Either Buzz gave him the boot, or he acted irrationally because it clearly wasn't thought through with his father.

I find it interesting that some here are more apt to take Tim Maymon at his word to support their theory that Buzz Williams is playing some sort of game.

If Tim Maymon is telling the truth, Jeronne Maymon was kicked off the team, and Buzz is choosing not to rub salt in the wound. If he did actually quit the team, it is completely illogical to assume that the decision was made, discussed, and announced without Tim Maymon being aware. Come on people.

Yeah I don't believe this.  Maymon goes back to his hometown and plays in a huge game on Saturday and then quits the team 2 days later.  Not saying that UW had an impact on this decision, but being around friends, family, and old coaches who I'm sure were all at the game had to have played a part in this.  If playing time and his position were the focal point in his decision, I'd speculate that his surroundings this weekend only helped piss fire on the gasoline.

I've answered it now, didn't see it.   Yesterday you started a thread about me being Giddy about this situation.  Perhaps that thread is still here, I don't see it.  Mviale jumped in as well.  Looks to me like that thread has been deleted, perhaps it was moved.

To be totally clear, I've been giddy about many things in life....birth of my kids, my daughter getting out of intensive care after 2+ weeks, getting married, going to game 7 of the World Series to see the Angels win, going to game 6 of the Ducks Stanley Cup clincher, etc, etc.

I am not giddy at all about this, but certainly not shocked either.   Buzz is our coach and he's going to be the coach for years to come.  As a diehard MU fan, I want him to succeed, I have no choice.  You can't be one without the other at this point in his tenure.  Now, if this was year 5 or year 7, then I might have a different take.  Right now, in year 2 of his tenure, he doesn't need this stuff and I wish it wasn't happening.

So now, I'm not giddy at all about it.  If that thread still exists, my apologies for saying it was deleted but I didn't see it anymore.
