Pitt will be better at the end of the year as Jamie Dixon is head and shoulders above Crean as a coach and recruiter.

How do you explain Crean's 5-3 record against Dixon?

Which is what happens to about 90% of coaches...eventually they are all fired or retire at some point.  Nothing new here, that's what happens to just about everyone not named Boeheim, Roy Williams, Calhoun, etc.

No different than what will happen with Buzz....he'll either do well, stick around for awhile and then leave.  Do poorly and be asked to leave.

CBB, what do you think TC's ceiling is at IU?

Wow, I saw Harbaugh barking on the sidelines of his brother's team in GB on Monday night then he is at the IU game the next night.  He gets around.

I saw him stuffing his face during the IIII game last night.  He eats like my eleven year old nephew!

Jim Harbaugh has always been a complete dope. At one time he was one of those born again "Thank the Lord Jesus Christ" type interviews after games. Next thing you know, he's getting DUIs, divorcing his wife and getting a $50,000 toilet installed in his office. A total dope. If ND had hired him it would have been an absolute disaster. He'll embarrass himself at Stanford...and soon. Mark my words.

Marquette plays Pitt on Feb. 18th.  That is a long ways away and plenty of time for Mr. Dixon to figure out how to get the most out of that bunch.

Nice win for Crean/Indiana last night.  Still a long way to go in Bloomington.

The sidebar on SportCenter says that the win last night was Crean's 200th win.

IU is the second worst team in the B10, Pit is very poor too. They lost all their offense and it seems like alot of there toughness.  The game was brutal to watch, two very very bad teams.

I think that's the whole point of the original post....if IU is terrible, as you state, then there should be no reason MU doesn't beat Pitt at MU.  MU is better than IU and Pitt.  Pitt will be on the road at MU.  This should be a MU victory.

Did anyone else see the quick interview espn had with crean that was played during the 2nd half? Crean was talking about how he met Valvano, and that Jimmy V referenced Crean in some public speech. Crean said something along the lines of "that made my head swell". If I was Crean at that time (not sure when this was, but I'm pretty sure Crean wasn't very big time when it happened, seeing that it had to have been before 1993) I would've been honored too, but Tommy, everyone knows that your head is big enough, you don't need to remind us.

Are you certain Crean wasn't just being thanked for filling the water glasses at the banquet table when he was being referenced?

Great question....I think a ton will be determined in the next two years.  If he can get Selby and land the class next year he's on pace to land, he has the potential to be a Final Four coach again in the next decade.  If he doesn't, then my opinion is they will be a NCAA team but will fail in the first two rounds, much like at MU.  It all depends if he can get IU to the point where he can land players that an IU allows him to land in the ideal situation.

I have zero doubts he will be there in a few years and look forward to collecting my bet with Rocky.   ;)

IU is not good and won't be until next year (even then, they'll just be respectable).  If they can dismantle Pitt like that on a neutral court, we should do the same, especially on our home court.   That's all it was, sorry to disappoint.  If you or others take it a different way, that's fine. I didn't mention any coach at all in my post, unlike some posters who simply cannot avoid it.

Then why was your post in teal.

If "IU is not good... and that's all it was,"  then what makes your post sarcastic?

Because sarcastically, "anyone" can't beat them....say a DIII team, or a DII team, or Grambling, or UWM, or N. Florida.  That's what makes it sarcastic.

How can any of you criticize a MAN who brought you so many wins? You hear me?

He still speaks of Jimmy V remembering his name at that camp and how both his heads swell

I'll explain Coach Tom Crean's winning record against Jamie Dixon: Hard Work! As Coach Tom Crean's good friend Jay Bilas says, "Nobody works harder than Coach Tom Crean!"

Crean married Jim & John's sister Joanie(?).  He's their brother-in-law.

Even if he did not marry their sister, Jimmy and Johnny Harbaugh would want to be friends with Coach Tom Crean because, darn it, he's such a swell guy! If you don't believe me you can ask Tony LaRussa!
