Wednesday signings
« on: November 10, 2009, 03:59:31 PM »
from R's blog

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/69685217.html

......Wednesday, which is the open of the NCAA's week-long early signing period, MU is expected to announce the signings of both Jamail Jones and Vander Blue. Williams has a news conference scheduled for 2:45 at the Al McGuire Center, so be sure to check back in the late afternoon/early evening for comments on both the newcomers.

So do we have 2 signings, or perhaps three?  Buzz has surprised before, after all.   ;)

As was stated earlier, the BB office expects 2 signings unless something "completely" unforeseen happens.  All the talk seems to be Black will not sign until the fall and one JUCO then.

Is that saying that Black WILL sign in the fall, or IF Black IS to sign with us, THEN it will be in the fall?

And the word "surprise" exists for a reason.  Me, I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

My bad.  I meant to say , that all the talk on this board and others , is that BLACK will not sign until the SPRING signing period.

Remember, tomorrow kicks off Signing WEEK...it is not just limited to Signing DAY.

A kid could be visiting a school this coming weekend, and then sign at any time up until Wednesday the 18th, at midnight.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why the signing process is dramatically different between College Football and College Basketball?

Its always seemed odd to me that they are so different.

When Buzz was talking to Homer on the radio last night, he seemed to be hinting that there was going to be another signing in addition to the "2" we know about.  At first I thought he was just trying to give Homer a hard time, but he said it once or twice more.

Oh well, we will see.

I am not an expert but it might have to do with B-Ball signing 1-4 players a year whereas football signs 16-25 players per year.

It seems strange that with all the names MU was in on over the summer and the endless possibilities they could have fashioned, we will most likely see just two signings (even if they are great prospects).
