Campus Bars
« on: September 28, 2009, 01:03:09 PM »
Hey All,

Not sure if this has been talked about but I was on campus a couple weeks ago and of course decided to hit the normal campus bars (Murphy's and Caff's).  I graduated in 2007 when these places were both PACKED on the weekends.  In fact, Murphy's had a line out the door 3-4 nights a week.  I went out on a Saturday and both were almost empty.  I was completely shocked...

Where have all the students gone???

Can't wait for him to get to the NFL and become a modern day Bobby Douglass and complete less than 45% of his passes.

I'm gonna guess that the bars will fill up more once the juniors start turning 21.

Was just there over the weekend and I was shocked at how few people were out...  If it wasn't for 100 + rugby alumni wandering the campus, I don't think anyone would have been in the bars!  Shame on MU students for staying in!

Most people head downtown on Friday/Saturday nights and then hit up Murph's and Caff's around midnight or thereafter.  That said, I wasn't out this weekend, so I have no idea what it was like around 12:30 or 1:00.

It's a trickle down effect for all the "rich kids."

Bad economy - less money for mom and dad - less allowance for the kids to spend on comics and penny candy.

I world guess sales of Steel Reserve at Campus Foods (if it's even still open) are soaring.

That and Vitucci knows he has a monopoly with Caffs and Murphs and has steadily increased prices since 2006...

That guy is a douche.

Friday at Murphys, teh rugby guys were there until about 10:30 when they left for Hegg's. The bar was then really empty until about 12:30 when it got packed.

Murphy's always gets a good crowd after 12:30 or so mainly because it is mostly the last stop for students before they go home to after bars (which i was extremely disappointed with Friday night).

At least one thing remains constant at Marquette.

Rugby players drink beer on the weekends.  +1

By the way, I don't know about where beer money came from for most, but I'd figure less than 10% came from my parents... I never understood allowances in college.  I'm jealous of those bastards!
