The Wiki is now up and running!  It's pretty barren though, so please check it out, click edit and add some content!  There's a link in the resources box so that you can always access it quickly.

fantastic..just added a few categories.....interesting that u dont require folks to register in order to edit.

are the user names/passwords the same as here, or do u need to re-register (if u want to)?

rocky_warrior

Right now it's completely open - all guests can edit and add (and delete). No worries though...we can undelete :)

No need to log in (in fact, you can't).  In the future (near future?) we can lock it down more and link it to the username/password combo here (no re-registration will be required).  For now though, I wanted to make it super accessible to promote content.

Honestly, I don't want to lock it down at all, but I imagine after a few occurrences of vandalism I'll have to reconsider.  We'll see how it goes.

mu_hilltopper

This is going to be huge.  Tres cool.

rocky_warrior

Cool. I like all the new topics on the index page -- eps adding wells st / bars.  There's some good history there that we need to archive!

Now...we just need some time to fill in all these topics :)

Big Papi

Wow.  Great start to the wiki.  Thanks to whoever added the table to this year's roster.  I did not know how to do that. I will try to copy the format for past rosters.

I was going to add to the MU players in the NBA, but a couple of questions before I do.  First, the year to the left of the players name....graduation year or year they started in the NBA?  For example, Tom Copa played a few games in the 1991 season for the Spurs but graduated in 1987.  Which would go by his name?

Secondly, what would you think about separating it between played in the NBA and drafted in the NBA.  Some of the guys listed, Brad Luchini, Dave Erickson etc were drafted but never played in a game.

That damn wiki has me whipped.  Especially the bars section as it is the best reminder of my college years.  I was able to piece together some info and images of my beloved Lanche', but couldn't come up with anything for the other Wells Street bars.  If anyone has any photos of any of these places, PLEASE post them, email them, attach them, anything.
(I seem to remember a cartoon map of wells street that MU Hilltopper posted on the old board.  Do you still have it?)

...somebody has their facts wrong on the information concerning the Avalance. It was never known for serving Pabst Blue Ribbon, although they may have offered that. It was Red, White and Blue...there's a difference. And believe me, I know damn well what I was drinking!

I was wondering about that.  All the stories I hear are about the RW&B

BTW Nightmare...that's the beauty of a Wiki...everyone can edit to correct things...even you :)

When are you going to write the wiki article for the nickname Gold?

much like the Unibomber, he is squirreled away in a rural location, polishing his manifesto that will be released to the world at a time yet to be determined.   ;D

I got around to editing the MU players in the NBA portion.  My formatting skills aren't that great, but I did the best I could.  I created a few more links for players that there's other information for....ie Sam Worthen's Iona coaching bio, Jim Boylans NBA bio....Terry Rand's business bio(pretty good read btw).  When I have a chance I'll add those.

If I can find it, I might also do a MU players in other leagues(CBS, Europe etc)...I know some of the information is out there, but a lot of it is missing.

If you notice anything I screwed up, go ahead and fix it, but be careful with the editing, because the formatting(at least to me) is easy to screw up.  I had to keep previewing it every 5 minutes or so just to make sure I did it right.

Either way, let me know what you think about it.

I love the picture of wade in the bottom of his wiki bio:
http://www.muscoop.com/wiki/doku.php?id=men_s_basketball:dwyane_wade
more particularly I love the expression on the lakers guy right by him who looks like he is grinningin almost disbelief.. the laker player's teammate behind and to the left of him is clearly astonished too.. what a great shot!

I assume you mean you added the footnote references to each?  Thanks for doing that!  I'm all for more info on MU players in other leagues too - knock yourself out!!
These could possibly be better as just being their own pages for each player with the footnote become the text of the page for now.

Guy grinning is Lamar Odem, his former Miami teammate, perhaps thinking, "Man this is still fun to watch even if he's not on my team."

Guy astonished - Kobe.  Awesome.

Can we add video to the wiki?  I've got the espn clip on wade's reaction to the Gold nickname.

That video has to be in the Gold section. Love it.  Make it happen Rocky!

You should be able to use the same interface to upload videos as you do for pictures.  If it doesn't work...let me know.

That's excellent!  Tables aren't the easiest thing to do.  I actually tried with that list a couple times and gave up eventually.

I do agree with Spiral that I think we could move the footnotes to a page for each player.  Even if the player's page is minimal at this point - it can be added to in the future.  I think it would make editing the table a little easier too.
