Bonnies go big by signing 6-10 F Roseboro

The Associated Press

OLEAN, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's basketball coach Mark Schmidt hopes he's found another inside presence after forward Brett Roseboro signed with the team.

Listed at 6-foot-10 and 220 pounds, Roseboro averaged a double-double in points and rebounds in each of his final two years at Quakertown High School in Pennsylvania, including 14 points and 13 rebounds as a senior last year.

Roseboro, who signed on Monday, has the potential to provide the Bonnies an intimidating frontcourt presence. He'll be given an opportunity to play alongside center Andrew Nicholson, last year's Atlantic 10 Conference rookie of the year.

Absolutely. Good luck to him. I'm sure I speak for all Marquette fans in wishing him the best.

The A-10 is still a very tough league.  He probably is still way over his head, but good luck.

The A-10 is definitely still a tough league.  But it's definitely a step down from the Big East, and Bonaventure is a program clawing back from the brink.  He'll have a much easier time finding PT right from the start.  So it seems like a win for him - very good competition with the immediate PT he wants.

I agree with the first part, but I still think he will not step in and play right away.  He wasn't first team all-conference in high school, and he played in a league that didn't produce a D1 player in a long time.  The A10 is a step down, but still very physical.  I still think he's at best 2 years away from contributing.

Olean is about an hour away, so it will be interesting to see how he makes out playing for St. Bonnie  I'll keep the board posted will be interesting to see if he was really overhyped

schubert agree with the 2 years to contribute but one thing he may gain at St. b's is the ability to step on the floor in the first two years for more than a minute or two in pre-con mop up duty.  he might get 5-10 minutes a game in his first two years there and at MU he would  ave been lucky to average 2-3 minute game those first two years, when you factor in very few minutes if any in 20+ games of the schedule.

Exactly.  He's probably still two years away from starting or making a Butler-type contribution, but he'll get 5-10 minutes per game, as opposed to Hazel/Frozena type garbage minutes he'd get his first two years at MU.  On top of that, he gets to play against some very good teams like Xavier & Dayton in conference.
