I had a great time in college.  However when I graduated, I decided that instead of wishing that I was back there all the time, to actually *use* my Marquette education to make my life even better.

Too bad all you seemed to get from Marquette are memories.

Wow. Very defensive. Glad you can look down at many others from your perch as the Sultanate. Must be exciting.

IMO, you are coming off as a bit of a douchebag. And all because of a mindless Facebook status updates, the likes of which have included such gems in the past as "just had a burrito", "just balled with rel", and "wearing a sweatshirt right now".

What are you talking about?

(1) No one in this thread ever mentioned they wish they were back at MU "all the time".

(2) Your statement: "However when I graduated, I decided that instead of wishing that I was back there all the time, to actually 'use' my Marquette education to make my life even better."

I bet everyone who is a graduate of MU is "using" their education in some form or another.  That diploma & education never goes away.

(3) Your statement: "Too bad all you seemed to get from Marquette are memories".

I won't waste my time commenting on such a statement.

You are really good at making assumptions & generalizing people...way to "use"' that MU education.

I know I'm coming off as a db...but that's just because of the very predictable response by AC that I must not have had a good time in college if I don't want to go back.  Look, yeah, I look back on my college days with a great deal of happiness.  But I don't want to go back.  My life is simply better now.  I'm glad my life didn't peak at the age of 22.

When's the peak?  I want to make sure I don't miss it or I'll just end up looking back on it with fond memories.

Hell, I don't know.  Hopefully the day before I die.

MUfan12

I'm on board with Sultan here. I had a hell of a time, some great memories, and friendships that will hopefully last for along time. But I wouldn't want to go back. I like working, then being done and free to do what I want, instead of having a full day and then studying. And I like making money damnit. And being able to drink, show up 15 mins before tip, and have a seat waiting for me at basketball games.

Not a chance in hell I'd trade.

NavinRJohnson

Life today is certainly better and I wouldn't ever want to go back (although there definitlely are days I wish I could skip work, sleep until noon, and then head to the bar), but as I tell college students all the time, it is the longest vacation of your life. Funny thing, they never believe it until they enter the real world.

And going out 3 nights a week? Good grief. If we stayed home 3 nights a week, we were taking it easy. Times have changed indeed.

I will now overanalyze those updates:

"just had a burrito" - He must be easting at Taco Bell. My, how sad he cannot afford Qdoba.

"just balled with rel" - If he's ballin' with Rel that means he's not ballin' with JT or KMart or Reke...That's sad.

"wearing a sweatshirt right now" - Only a sweatshirt? What about a polo? Or the more dignified button up?

Again...overanalysis for what purpose?

Wes may be excited for this Golden Eagles team. Good for him, I say! :)

difference is that a beer costs $4 a glass nowadays... and the choices to go to are Hags, Murphs, and Caffs... unless you want to go downtown or to fringe bars (harp and sham, etc)

That's a steal compared to the rest of the country :)

Going back to topic, Wes will succeed in his other professional career, if the NBA dream doesn't work out. I had a couple of classes with him and he is a well spoken and smart person. Also he will be able to use his MU education.

Pretty good?  Those shooting percentages are awful.

BrewCity83

37.5% from three is good.  I'd take that all year.  That equates to 56.25% from two.

His overall shooting percentage though, not good.

That is total nonsense. A missed three pointer, in most cases, is a lost possession. That said, I don't think that's that poor of a shooting percentage.

GGGG

The 3 pt % isn't bad.  It would have ranked him about 70th in the NBA last year.  But this is also summer league competition we are talking about here.

{Juggernaut}

He is playing well in the Vegas league.

Has the third most minutes on the team with
the third highest ppg and he shooting 3% worse than tyreke evans...
Wes is playing well for the type of style they play in those summer league games.

If Wes doesn't have an NBA career, there is no doubt he'll be able to play overseas if he wants to.  There are tons of former Warriors who are currently playing overseas.

There is no reason you can't have an awesome life but can't wish you were back in college somedays.  There will never be another time in your life where you'll be around a couple thousand people the same age as you, have no real responsibilites, and be able to go out 4-5 times a week (if not more).  I

I haven't been gone that long, but I do miss college already and would love to go back if I could. Being able to go out any night I chose, with minimum responsibilities of writing papers and some light reading beats sitting at a desk all day. But it's not about drinking and sluffing off. Its about the social aspect (even class with the cute biscuits) that makes MU so much better than work.  I will say that I don't mind having it that at 5pm I'm done. I'm looking forward to going back too. That I can avoid being like Sultan Grampa Grumpy-pants Dbag (and other) for a little while longer, because you guys sound like you've really gone soft.

GGGG

Heh.

I don't know what you mean by "going soft."  I have a wonderful wife, three great children, boatloads of friends, a job I very much enjoy, a nice house, enough money to live quite comfortably, get to travel all over the place, etc. etc. etc.  If that's going soft than I could use more of it.

yeah with the same woman and 3 kids, you probably don't have the time/self esteem/ or drive to do anything close to that anymore do you?
