James finds a team

Dominic James just texted me and confirmed he will be playing for the Milwaukee Bucks' entry in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League next month.

Should be interesting to see him on the same team with, presumably, Bucks first-round draft choice Brandon Jennings.

Way to stay on that grind, Todd!

I'm happy to hear this about DJ. I hope his rehabilitation's gone well and that he's ready to tear summer league up.

UPDATE: Playing time might be tough to come by for James; I just read in our Bucks coverage that Salim Stoudamire will also be on the team -- a somewhat unusual move for a veteran. It's likely at the Bucks' behest, so they can get a closer look at him after he missed all of last season due to injury.

Here's a link to the complete schedule of games in Las Vegas.

Biggest game of interest for MU fans: Milwaukee vs. Sacramento, final game of the session on July 13.

James' former teammates Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews are expected to play for the Kings in Las Vegas.

Mviale, if James played for any other team would you be the least bit excited about the bucks aquiring him.  I like James, but to say he will do well for the bucks is pretty far fetched;  there were nearly 20 pgs chosen in the draft and he wasn't even on the radar.

A healthy James could have made some noise in the tourney as I expect he would have been the game changer in the Missouri game.  I also believe he would have shown promise in pre-draft workouts, but the kid is not 100%.  He has tremendous athleticism and could have averaged 10 assists a game with a big man ala Robert Jackson.  The draft lack of interest is more due to recent circumstances than a true critique of his skills.

James, from all indications is a fine young man, good spokesman for the program, and a good citizen. However, I repeat, the Association is not looking for 5'10" point guards who can't shoot. To quote a commonly used phrase, players like him are "a dime a dozen." He'll get a sniff this summer as the Bucks third point guard behind Jennings and Salim. I do think, on the other hand, that Buzz and his program would benefit greatly by offering DJ a spot on his staff.

+1 Not to mention James could really Help the Guards.
