Interesting to say the least. Make your own judgement.....

Liked everything about MU....thinks the coaches can get him to the next level.   Calls himself a 'beast'.....6'10"....likes the high post, doesn't just play down low.....

at around the 0:30 mark..

"I'm a beast."

hahaah nice!

The few "highlights" they showed are not at all impressive.  If anyone judged him by just this video alone, they would be very upset.

I'm sure, though, that his game is much more than a short youtube clip, so I'm sure he has more to offer.

Nothing wrong with having a little attitude and confidence.  Need some to survive in the BEAST.  Let him play and prove himself.

tower912

I liked his personality.   I like that confidence.   I can understand if it raises somebody's hackles, however.  He already looks more muscular than I expected.

As long as it confidence and not cockiness that's fine with me. "I ain't scared of nothing" though? C'mon.

Honestly?  I think to play at a high level in the big east you need some of both.

We've had players scared of taking the ball to the hole in the BE.  It's not a pretty sight - they become non-factors and sit on the bench.

HAving been around the AAu level for a long time ,, i will tell you right now if you do not have a absolute ton of confidence in yourself and unless you are unafraid to make mistakes you will rarely achieve the D1 level.    Also throw in god given athleticism and an unbeleivable work ethic unless you have soooo much of the former.

Even if you had some trepidation, you can't really put that out there.  It would all come back at you.

Maybe it's somthing that is learned, the kid is 18, cut him some slack.

Well, they are not *unimpressive* either.  They're just kind of bland.  He's going to have to gain some bulk though.

Now, if he can walk the walk.....  we might have a player.

I love when a suburban kid tries to act philly style.  Believe me, that 80% act.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

But if he will be around and playing with philly style players 80% of the time, can you blame him for not wanting to blend in the best you could?

Thomas' Danish Delight

I personally don't care how the kid acts.  As long as he can contribute, he could act like Kevin Federline for all I care.  I just hope he really is a beast.

WellsstreetWanderer

If you have the physical attributes then it comes down to mindset. This kid seems to have it. That's a good start

DomJamesToTheBasket

The shot with his arms out got me thinking what his wingspan is. I wish the wingspan measurement was as ubiquituos as the height measurement, seeing as you need both to determine how long a guy actually plays. For example, Maymon is listed in the 6'6"-6'7" range, but has a 7'6" wingspan that is vastly larger than anyone(2-3 guys in the NBA have that).......he has the length of your average 6"10" guy. On the other end of the spectrum you have the T-Rex guys whose small wingspan makes them smaller than their height suggests. Kirk Penney was measured at 6'5" with an equal wingspan and guys 3-4 inches shorter have the same standing reach.....he effectively played with the length of a 6'2" guy.
