A Vegas friend of mine said Victor Rudd is going to Arizona State. He also said that is a good thing for Marquette. His teammates apparently couldn't get along with Rudd. -- Tom Keegan, Class of '81.

I've heard it said that since he dropped out of Findlay Prep he might have trouble completing his core school work.  I'll be happy if he does sign with ASU (or anyone else).  MU doesn't need a head case!

Tom, I'm sure that's part of why he left Findlay.

Yeah, the players there live together, I guess, and they all got along with each other with the exception of Rudd.

This is one that I'm glad we didn't get. Not sure how hard we were pitching to him after DJO came in, but he doesn't sound like someone who would be a good fit in the atmosphere Buzz is looking to cultivate.

It doesn't sound like MU was pushing real hard for him.  We weren't in his final three:

Rudd was averaging 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds a game for No. 1 Findlay College Prep before being dismissed from the team in February for violating team rules. He chose the Sun Devils over Arizona and USC.

FWIW - On a local sports talk show recently a writer for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Matt Youmans, commented that if/when Victor Rudd arrives at ASU he will carry with him SEVEN (count'em 7!) different high school transcripts!  The Sun Devils can have him!  We don't need that!

But I believe we have one (or two?) recruits that will have four high school transcripts!

Victor Rudd also got into a fight in the locker room with two players from his own team (Findlay Prep - Henderson, NV).  He was dismissed from the team by his coach (Mike Peck).  In order to be reinstated he had to write a letter of apology and vocalize his apology to the team.  He refused and without notice moved back to SoCal.  His guardian in SoCal is the father of another former Findlay Prep player who had quit the team earlier.  There are a lot of players who don't come from backgrounds where they got a great education.  That is one issue.  Some (see DWade) do okay in college with some guidance.  To be insubordinate and detrimental to your team is worse.
