Might as well play at valley fields.  Don't think they could sell out either place with that match up.

Sell out? No. But they would have very good attendance for it. It would easily set the record for highest attendance in the state or whatever that record is that MU seemed to break twice a year for a while there.

Crean was trying to schedule a game with Illinois at Miller Park a few years ago.  We should get into the game.

That is exactly what I was thinking.....If I plan on taking a nap that day I may go to it.

I would imagine this is being put together in part by Brewers Enterprises.  Pretty much everything the Brewers have touched since Attanosio has taken over has turned to gold.  I would expect them to find a way to get butts in the seats.  Heck they probably have a decent Chicago area mailing list from all of their Cub customers.

Weber wants to do this game period.  My understanding is talk with MU stalled a few years back when Weber mentioned it casually at a fundraiser and TC was livid that details (i.e. that it was being considered) were floating out in the press.

The Brewers are also now using the Summerfest as their official booking agent for non-baseball events (namely concerts) at Miller Park, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're helping out on this as well if it is indeed happening.

I wish MU would have been able to pull off a game there a few years back.  Can you imagine the atmosphere both inside and outside for something like this?

Do you really think the Wisconsin athletic department is obsessed with breaking Marquette's single game attendance record?  I doubt it.  The Brewers have talked about hosting a Final Four at Miller Park.  This won't happen, but they are hoping to show that it is a legitimate basketball site.  My guess is that they started this and not the Badgers.

Obsessed, certainly not.  Is it in their heads at all when doing their due diligence on this scenario?  I bet it is.

I would agree the Brewers are likely largely the ones driving this...If they are truly looking for a game to host, would MU v. UW not make some sense? Seems logical to me. Better yet, do some kind of two game event...that includes MU and UW. I assume doing a conference game is more appealing for the teams involved because nobody loses any revenue. Four Uof I it is just a conference road game, and for UW its a home game. Still, if you want to do something...do something.

Sure.  But that doesn't mean that it is the "only reason they're doing it."

Higher total score:  UI/WI or Cubs/Brewers.

I'll take the latter.
