Down 9 halfway through second.  Come on Cards, keep the BE going.

Not me, eff Slick Rick.

Go State!

Chicago_inferiority_complexes

Disagree completely. The #1 B11 team beats the #1 BE team and we'll hear about it forever.

MUDPT

I don't think Louisville would have survived the bottom half of the BET bracket, to get the number one seed, a little overrated.

spartan3186

I'm a Marquette fan first, but I've been a State fan longer.

Go Green!

What'd I read on here a few days ago, that MU gets $175k for every game a Big East team wins in the tourney?

Unless you're ponying up a six-digit donation to MU, might want to start cheering the other way...

MU could beat loooville the way they're playing today..., but MSU is hardly the team they look like today.  Watching Northwestern beat them in Lansing was telling.

spartan3186

Izzo always has them peaking in the tournament.

MUWeb7

MSU went unconscious today and Louisville was missing layups...sad showing for Louisville today. They've had those games several times this season...

tower912

MSU hit shots, Louisville didn't.   Torn on this game.   Historically, MSU is my second favorite team, but I would have liked 3 BEast teams in the FF.   With the FF in Detroit, MSU may be the new favorite.   Congrats to Sparty.

MSU played great and they might have beat any team left in tournament today.  Held UL to 52 points and they are now playing at home.  Wow.

augoman

I don't know about peaking, but Izzo is great at game plans, and I'll never forget what they did to MU in the tourney, and Crean's total lack of adjustment/attack.  We just saw Pitino do the same thing- no attack.

Nukem2

Have to make your bunnies and FTs and not turn the bll over.  Samuels' exceedingly poor game (along with Jerry Smith) also hamstrung the 'Ville as well.

DonCornholeone

This makes me angry.  B10 fans just got that much more annoying.

GGGG

Izzo knows how to slow down pace.  They would do well v. Nova, but I don't think they will do well v. UConn.

rocky_warrior

MSU's run (not their team) reminds me of Marquette's in 03.  They did just enough to get by USC and Kansas (ala Missouri & Pitt in 03), then they clobber their elite 8 opponent (ala UK in 03).  Will they flame out and get destroyed by UConn in the FF?  I'm guessing so - but it's hard to ignore the home court advantage they're going to get too.

Great analogy.  MSU does not have the horses to keep up with UConn.  One difference is New Orleans for Marquette versus Michigan for MSU.  Will it make the difference?  I don't think so, but it will keep the game from being a blowout.  Huskies by 5.

Then the #1 B11 team should have NO PROBLEM whatsoever knocking off the #3 BE team this coming Saturday.  Should be a walk in the park for them....especially playing in Detroit about an hour from campus.

Except for 2004 when the lost in the first round
Except for 2006 when they lost in the first round
Except for 2007 when they lost in the second round

Tell that to the average B11 fan, including if they lose Saturday or Monday.

MSU played very, very well today and I think Izzo is a fine coach. But to win the tournament, even at home they would have to beat UConn and North Carolina back-to-back.

I think UCONN will dispatch them on Saturday.

Don't know how many of you recall this, but MSU and UNC have both "previewed" the Ford Field venue.  They played each other at FF last December -- MSU lost, so clearly the hometown advantage wasn't helping them that evening.

If they do that, it may be considered one of the most difficult runs in NCAA history.

1. Robert Morris (OK...no biggie)
2. USC (Pac Ten tournament champion)
3. Kansas (Big 12 reg. season champion)
4. Louisville
5. UConn
6. UNC

That being said, i think UConn beats them. :D
