Tom Crean's Tanning Bed

While DePaul is (apparently) keeping Wainwright, it looks like they're overhauling their coaching staff per their Scout board.  Word is they're canning their other two assistants in addition to Wainright's son (who resigned last week), and bringing in a new staff, including a Chicago-based recruiting coordinator.

One of the names being floated:  former MU manager/special asst. Dennis Gates.

Would not be surprised either if we saw former Wisconsin guard Tracy Webster, who was Gillispie's lead recruiter at Kentucky and a Chicago-native, end up their either.

Chicago could get a lot tougher for MU recruiting in the near future.

That's fine by me. The sooner DePaul stops sucking, the better. Better for te conference and better for MU.

Wouldn't be a bad idea for MU to get a proven Chicago recruiter either.......

If I was the DePaul AD I'd hire a former Kentucky head coach to head up the staff.  I bet he would take it.

Where's Bo Ellis???

As of two years ago:
QuoteHe works for the Chicago Public Schools in sports administration and is stadium director for Lane Stadium on the city's North Side. He is also the supervisor for boys and girls high school bowling and elementary school track and field. Ellis conducts camps for coaches during the school year.

They do...his name is Tony Benford. He's had Chicago connections for a long time.

Did the DePaul nose picker get the boot?

Navin!  Why would you want depaul to stop sucking?  So they can start taking potential MU recruits?  I hope they keep sucking and we keep beating them twice a year.

He'll find another coaching job at a different school since he's an expert at the pick and roll.

A dead fish begins to smell from its head-----Wainright should be the guy shown the door------is only one level higher as a coach than Kennedy. Wainrights problem isn't one of recruiting------he did all right there but has a huge problem teaching defense------worst defensive coach in the BE. At age 60+ he isn't going to get any better at that either.

Their defense (other than a blowout at Louisville) actually improved as the season went on. Their problem was an offense that relied too much on Tucker and Koshwal.

+1

The best thing that can happen for MU is to have them face a ranked DePaul team.  Rekindling the rivalry would be a good thing.

Just like a decent Badger team is good for MU.  When I graduated in 1984, the Badgers were simply awful.  Having them suck meant the Badger game was about as interesting as the UWM game is now.

We need good rivalries.  And it starts with out natural rivals (DePaul, Badgers) fielding good teams.

Improved you say? DePaul ranked 15th out of 16 BE teams in points allowed-----and they were dead last
in FG percentage allowed at 46.6%.

As I say, Wainwright is a horrible defensive coach!
