Nova better at almost every position on the floor.  Duke cant even run their offense.  And that is not an exaggeration.  This coupled with the Mizzou game makes you wonder how good MU really was, especially with DJ >:(

Have to agree with you on that. The Big East is showing just how strong a conference it has been all year. Really an incredible showing by the conference.

The Elite Eight this year could end up being a "Who's Who" on teams that beat Marquette.  If Nova wins, Mizzou holds on, the Ville and the Cuse win, that would be of Marquette's ten losses:  7 losses from Elite Eight teams.

bilsu

Villanova, Uconn, Louisville, Pitt, Syracuse, Villanova again and Missouri makes 7 losses to potential greast 8 teams.

MU B2002

Duke just looks absolutely lost.  Villanova is relentless.

Nova has been this way the entire tournament.  Thats the way it has to be to win tournament games.  40 solid minutes with no let up.

At least we don't have to hear to hear all weekend about the greatness of Coach K, who once again failed to take 12 high school All-Americans into the Elite Eight.
On the other hand, I am glad Tiller's wrist was OK. I thought for a moment he had broken it against MU. Glad to see the always classy Calipari and his band of thugs go down.
I think we all agree now that no conference has ever been stronger than the Big East. We could conceivably have five teams in the Elite Eight.

The way Villanova has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they take down Pitt.  Now, why oh why did I cross out Nova and pick Duke at the last second before submitting my bracket.  Stupid!  I knew Nova was playing good ball, but felt my bracket was a little too Big East biased.  Apparently that bias was well founded.

Man are you serious Swimmer.  Once I knew that duke was going against villanova I knew Villanova was going to destroy Duke.  Coach K hasn't done a thing in the tournament, he is on a five year draught and that team had I kid you not had 8 All Americans on it.  But half of them were probably white so its a wash.

Congrats to Villanova they deserved it since they manhandled the ACC tournament champs and made them out to be the frauds that they are.

Can't wait to hear the excuses from Coach K's But Boy Dick Vitale tomorrow.  it Will probably be something like how Coach K overachieved or some other nonesense!! ;D

HylianHero

I picked Nova to make the final 4. My entire final four is BE. It's probably biased, but I tried to be as real as possible. The only game that I ever doubted Nova on was the Pitt game, and I guess we'll see on Saturday. With the way they've both been playing so far in the tourney, I'll take Nova. Go Cuse and L'ville tomorrow, and we've got 5 in the 8.

NavinRJohnson

I had the same fear, but with 3 number 1's and two number 3's, its not bias, its just logical.

I didn't get to hear Coach K's presser.  Is he still stating that the ACC is as good or better than the BEAST ?-(

MU B2002

Maybe he went back to complaining about Obama filling out a bracket.

From the clips on Sportscenter this morning he seemed pretty defeated, stating something to the affect that "Nova is a *really* good team...."

PuertoRicanNightmare

Duke had no athleticism. Scheyer is a nice player, for instance, but is he going to keep up with Villanova's guards? Give me a break.

Compare him to Wesley Matthews...Wes would eat him for breakfast.

With his roster and lack of recent success, perhaps Coach K will have another bout of "exhaustion."

CTWarrior

The only reason there was even a discussion about which conference was best during the regular season was because the bottom five teams or so in the Big East were pretty terrible and skewed the league's power ratings so that the Big 10 and ACC may have come out ahead.  I don't think there are many who doubted that the top half of the Big East was significantly better than the best 8 of any other conference.  As a group they are probably better than the top 8 teams of any conference ever.  1-11 of this conference is probably also better than 1-11 of any other conference ever, too.

This is the fourth year in a row that Duke has been beat by a lower seed that is longer, and more athletic, than they are.  (LSU, VCU, WVU and Nova)  I honestly think that he needs to reassess the type of player he is bringing in there.

Murffieus

Needs to reassess his offense----too perimeter orientated----has to rely too much on jump shooting as a result!

ecompt

Needs to reassess, period. This is a guy who determined that Dwyane Wade wasn't good enough to start for Team USA last summer. He gets every player he wants without recruiting, every call goes his way, and he can't take eight All-Americans to the Final Four. But he does nice car commercials.

Murffieus

Not reasses "everything"-----Duke plays good defense----they play hard, and they play together, which is what every coach strives for------Coach K's problem the past few years is that he's been studless-----doesn't have that quality big down low like he did when he won those NCAA championships. As a result, they are too perimeter orientated----rely on the jump shot too much----no inside postup game-----makes a team inconsistent.

Rollout-the-Barrel

Hmm...  Sounds familiar.
"We have the blues on the run!"

avid1010

I understand this is VERY controversial and impossible to validate, but does it seem odd to anyone how many white players coach K starts and gives considerable minutes to?  To a coach with the experience he has, what makes him think he could put that type of athleticism on the court and compete at a typical "Duke" level?  I almost wonder if he had those players consistently sticking around for 4 years, and when that tradition stopped, he thought he better recruit the most talented college players that would be around for four years and then mix it with a superstar or two that could be one/two year and done.
