"The high school season is coming to a close, and some players are going home with a lot of hardware including Jeronne Maymon, who won both a state title and Wisconsin Mr. Basketball. National Recruiting Analyst Jerry Meyer takes a look at some award winners across the country in his midweek report.

Marquette signee Jeronne Maymon finished off his high school career in fine fashion. Not only did the four-star forward take home Wisconsin's Mr. Basketball Award, he also took home a state championship.

Maymon certainly wasn't a one man show for Madison (Wisc.) Memorial High School. 2010 four-star guard Vander Blue actually garnered MVP honors of the DI state tournament, averaging just under 23 points per game over the course of the tournament."

Nice to read Maymon's comments on wanting to be a good teammate this year so they could win more games, and then seeing his team win state title and he be rewarded with that hardware.  Many, including myself, had some form of worry over his dad being a little pushy, but it sounds like he did a lot of growing up in the last year or so.  We don't seem to hear anything negative about his grades, selfishness, family, etc.  Just praise and titles.  He should be fun to watch next year.

I haven't seen anything in the pub that Maymon's been getting about this, so I thought I should ask:

I remember reading a year ago that Maymon was on pace to break Wes' scoring record and Keaton Nankvil's rebounding record at Memorial.  Did he do both?

I don't know what he officially ended up at, but he needed 132 points for Wes's record and 38 rebounds for Keaton's record, both of which he surpassed.  He may also have broken the all time steals record, as he only needed 18 coming into the season.

Aha.  I didn't realize he was that close to start the season.  That explains why it's not in the post season pub, because he did it MONTHS ago.  :D

Seriously, so Maymon basically did everything this year he said he wanted to do?

State Championship? check
player of the year? check
all time scoring leader at Memorial? check
all time rebounding leader? check
all time steals leader? check

And it's not like he went to a school and broke the records of some chumps.  If he got his grades fully on track, this kid officially rules.  I'm in favor of anyone that can talk some game and then back it up.

I agree.

I think he also said MU's back in the NCAAs his freshman year. ;)
