I really, really hope that the author is exagerating because I would hate to think that MU fans were reacting that way at the end of the game.  I think Anderson is a good coach and I like watching Mizzou play.  (I hope they crush Memphis.)  I seriously doubt he was telling his 78% FT shooter to fake an injury at that point.

If he wasn't exagerating, than it is a shameful display by some of our fans.

The article wasn't infuriating (the comments were, so I stopped reading them).  The author seemed to have an accurate grasp of the situation, and he gets paid to write interesting stories.  You can't fault him for adding a little sensationalism to get a few extra readers.

Of course, none of the Marquette fans knew any of this. All they saw was a player claiming to be hurt, and the coach putting in a new guy (and it was that guy who scored all those points in the first half). Then they saw English make both free throws. Then — and this was the thing that really set everyone off — they saw Tiller immediately try to check back into the game.

Yep, that about sums it up.  You can't really fault sports fans for acting irrationally.

No reason to get irritated because the KC Star is about as bad as the Journal Sentinel

By "MU Country" I think he meant Missouri.

The Star may be on par with the JS but the author, Joe Posnanski, is widely considered one of the best sports columnists in the country.

I didn't care that someone else was brought into the game.  The simple fact that looking at the replay you see Tiller slap the floor in disgust about missing the bucket, getting to his feet fine, and then a minute later complain about an injury, come off the court, as the second shot was in the air, you see him running to the scorer's table.. seems a bit fishy to me.

The author should check his facts.  Marquette fans were on the opposite side of the arena from where Missouri players and coaches exited.  They would have had to run over across the arena to make those comments.

The comments were in all likelihood from neutral observers who had no agenda.  The same neutral observers who boo'ed Missouri off the court after the game.

I love the fact that the comments regressed into a KU / Mizzou pissing contest.  I live in KC and that rivalry utterly nauseating from an "outsider's" perspective.

The one thing that kept coming back to me as I read the posts on that site were the comments stating how pro-Marquette the announcers were.  I, and the people watching with me, thought exactly the opposite.  Yes, they were excited about DJ coming into the game, but who wouldn't have been?  The guy broke his foot and had surgery 3 weeks ago!

And some guy actually wrote,"If there's any controversy, it's Marquette trying to play their star senior, when they probably were lowered to a six seed because no one expected James to be able to play.

It might have been a nice storyline, but still, the committee takes injuries into consideration as OU well knows, and Marquette with James would have likely been a 3 or 4 seed, if not higher, so let's not talk about any free throw switcheroo's Marquette fans..."

I even made a comment to my friends during the game that I thought the announcers seemed pro-Missouri. Actually in hindsight, they seemed to be pro-whichever team was winning, so it effectively was pro-Missouri most of the game.

Yeah, at the start of the 2nd half the announcers said, "Missouri's is 20 minutes away from the Sweet 16."  I don't see how that can be pro-Marquette.

Read his recent cover story in SI on Pujols or better yet, 'The Soul of Baseball' and you'll know why.......Posnanski is top notch.  He's also prolific on his own blog and with CNNSI
