I didn't know I could arouse such passion on the site.  If you read through my previous posts, I have been very complimentary of Jerel McNeal.  This was meant to be a satirical take on some bad decisions of late.  Hopefully he reads it, becomes "Christian Bale" enraged, and has the tournament of his life.  I have no problem with folks criticizing my opinions.  In fact, that's why instead of using an alias, I posted my real name on this board.

Brad I think you hit it spot on. A lot of people are offended at what you wrote because Jerel is a god in the Marquette Basketball World. Similar to that of Steve Novak and Travis Diener. You say one bad thing about them and people bite your head off: "How dare you insult the all mighty (insert name here)!?!"

It's actually kind of nauseating how some people out there think these people can do no wrong (kind of like a few dems I know out there are about our president). It's one thing to be supportive of a player like McNeal, but as a fan you have every right to criticize his play.

Yes, we wouldn't be anywhere close to where we are now without him. We all understand that. The fact is since James went down McNeal has been a loose cannon.

Jump down this guy for making factual statements towards him, but it doesn't take away that what this guy said is true. Sure, it was a little condescending, but it doesn't mean it wasn't true.

With respect to the "letter" whether it's accurate or not, it's Buzz's job to control and coach the players - not ours.   A lot of us, me included, sometimes think we know better - but most of that energy has been directed at our coach - an adult who gets paid to run this team.  Issues with time-outs, bench-play etc. have been addressed on the boards a lot- but all questioning Buzz.  And really, the letter is a coaching letter.  Write it to Buzz, ok.  To Jerel, I don't think so.  Just my opinion.

While he makes some bad decisions, without McNeal we are nowhere near as good.  So we have to expect some bad games and bad decisions.  For all the big shots he's made, and games he has won, I can take some losses.

Can't take any more - needs to step back up to the level of play from earlier in the season vs. thinking he has to do it all himself.
