Some of you are a little off your rocker. "The only thing keeping MU out of the NIT is Providence's loss to Louisville?" Sure, we lost several games recently - to the #2, 3, 5, 10 and 18th ranked teams in the country. And we hung tough with each. It's not like we lost to Texas Tech and Baylor folks.

the only thing keeping us out of the NIT could be the Providence loss to Louisville.

Can you explain this one to me:

Marquette:                               Providence
Conference Record 12-6             Conference Record 10-8
Overall Record       24-9              Overall Record    19-13
RPI                      30                 RPI                   71
SOS                     49                 SOS                  55
Bad Losses           USF                Bad Losses         None
Quality Wins       Northern Iowa,    Quality Wins: Rhode Island, @ Cincy,
Wisconsin, Nova, Cincy, W. Virgina,   @Seton Hall, Syracuse, Pitt
@ Providence, @ Notre Dame, @G-Town,
G-Town, Seton Hall

These all came from RealTimeRPI.com. I'm not saying I agree with the quality wins, but I don't see how Providence's loss to Louisville helped us get in the tourney?

I'm assuming you're saying that if Providence won, the would be in over us? Am I wrong gforce?

No, I'm sorry I wasn't clear in what I meant. I meant that every year it seems the Committee is getting more and more carried away with putting emphasis on how a team is playing at the moment and de-emphasizing what was accomplished over the course of the year. I was stating that if they keep going down that slippery slope there could be a situation down the road where a team could lose out a spot to a lesser qualified team because of a late season fall, to the point of absurdity, i.e. Providence over Marquette.

Ok, that makes more sense. I can see where you are coming from, but don't see huge of jump happening anytime soon.

Exactly. However, while 8 would be disappointing, 9 would be insulting.

not giving any real numbers or reasons.

I'd move LSU up a bit, Zag down a little, put UL #1, drop Texas a bit
