While I find it shocking....SHOCKING...that people would go out of their way on MUScoop to bash Crean, I have to say...

Bo Ryan - as great a coach as he is - is quite a dickbag off the court from a negative-recruiting standpoint. To make him out to be this gentleman-of-the-game at the expense of Crean is ridiculous. Every MU fan wanted TC to crush Ryan cuz Ryan sucked (and so did UW). Now that Crean's gone, suddenly Bo is an uber-gentleman? C'mon. Can people just be fair.

Get over him.

can we all agree - he is successful and an asshat....

Sounds like the personality of 95% of successful coaches out there.

;D

I can't stop watching that video. Are we really going to say Bo Ryan is terrible b/c he out-recruited someone? All's fair in love and war...and recruiting.

Bo Ryan is terrible in many ways, I'll start with the Homan kid funeral as exhibit one.  Exhibit two will be how he was at UWM when I was still at MU and what he did in back channels to get a game.  Douchey Duberstein.

He has no dignity!

I don't disagree with the comment, but somehow I love the fact that it was posted by a guy named GasPasser! :)

That said, and no offense, I think we should automatically place all Crean-led threads in the Superbar automatically.

+1. Current Tom Crean commentary has absolutely nothing to do with Marquette basketball.

How did things work out? Did Bo retire or did Crean leave MU?

Crean left MU after delivering MU a final four and the best run of any MU coach not named Al McGuire.

Bo is still at UW-Madison, still trying to get to the final four, still complaining about every call and still figuring out if they should double down on Estill.

You missed the point. Intentionally I will assume.

Was Bo a bigger "dickbag" negative recruiter for telling recruits that Crean was looking at other jobs or Crean for telling recruits that Bo was retiring? In the end which recruits will finish playing for the coach that told them he would be there?

I get the point entirely.  Yes, after 9 years of Bo saying Crean would leave, he got it right on the 9th year.  Bo is Nostra Damus.    :)

Crean looked into job openings almost yearly. The right one finally came along. Eventually Bo will retire. I don't see any high ground on this issue.

Bo made a comment about Bruce Pearl arriving in a limo.
