I still don't understand why we pulled his offer and then brought it back.  If he's a headcase or didn't need him, then just stick to your guns, Buzz.  Now we look a little ridiculous, and it's pretty clear that Jamil and his family were offended by that behavior.

I guess Buzz wanted to hang onto the possibility; I don't think he ever wanted to go to Marquette, so good riddance.

There's more to it than you think.

The part on MU and Wilson looks simply to be a rehash of what transpired prior to that latest re-entry of Buzz. Considering the fluidity of this recruitment, I'm not sure it's up to date.

Also, what is to happen when Ernie Kent gets fired two weeks after a winless Pac-10 season?

Care to enlighten?

I don't have any details, but have followed it through the threads and there is a lot of information out there that doesn't match up. I think Wilson's parties were playing games between schools, and ended up getting desperate as his stock dropped. Thus, Wilson's handlers had to bring Marquette into the situation again to try and bring some more prestige into his recruitment. When your supposedly a top caliber recruit, the two big dogs in your home state should be barking after you.

I can tell you with complete confidence Marquette was always high on his list and still is today. If there was an offer from MU still on the table, he'd be headed to Marquette. He has no bitter feelings towards Buzz or MU assistant Tony Bedford. Just the opposite exact. While some schools were willing to wait on Wilson, Buzz simply decided to move forward. It's as simple as that. No hard feelings on either side. Wilson loves Marquette (the coaching staff, the players, the proximity, the university) and can't say enough about the school. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be a missed opportunity because he has re-established himself as an All-American talent and will show it at the next level. His athleticism and developing skill level are off the charts. Also, he is one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet. Questions about his effort and desire can be attributed to one thing: He is bored at this level. But anyone who has watched him recently knows he looks like a future NBA Lottery pick.

I think its a shame, would have loved to have him be a part of the team.  But for some reason I can't rely upon this article, March 8 will be here soon.

Hi Jamil... Still don't understand why we are getting excited by Blacklege part duex while letting a talent leave the state.

Exactly.

That's what I thought originally, but the more you look into it, the more you wonder if it even matters.

Remember, Oregon is the Nike school.  That means they have a connection with Worldwide Wes and all the other behind the scenes players in the AAU game.  That connection will be there whether Ernie Kent is there or not.  So it's possible that Kent could get fired and they could still get top recruits there.

Not saying that's what is happening with Wilson, but given how the game is going today, it shouldn't be surprising if what happens to Kent doesn't matter.

If he would still be interested in us, I would hope that at least Buzz is keeping an eye on the 2nd best player in the state.  Allot can happen in 30 days and the fact that where he commits too he will be moving too in 2 1/2 months could make the commitment to Texas and Oregon that much harder.  IE, its much easier to say when its a year away then it is right around the corner.  If Anybody questions if he belongs in the Big East go watch the 4 minute Video of Horlick V's Mautowoc back from around Jan 1st on Wissports.com.  He shows some good passing, good dribbling and some highlight reel dunks.  I would take him over Smith or Riley.

Marquette is still high on Wilson and Wilson on MU. It is fun reading other area eviews on kids...this article makes Wilson sound like a McDolalds AA. Everything I read here makes it sound like he should be UW-Stout.

Oregon is 0 and 11 in PAC 10. Plus, a long way from Racine and family.

Texas is just loaded with five star/four star 2009 and 2010 recruits, especially at SF and SG positions. Just can't see it.

Michigan State also loaded, but not extent of Texas.  Having a great friend there helps though.

I still have hope.

The truth most likely lies in the middle.

The newspaper article is a puff piece, not a real news article.

As far as this board goes, when recruits don't sign with MU, the critiques can turn a little harsher.

He might turn out to be a good player, but I can't blame Buzz if he told Wilson he couldn't wait for him.

Buzz is mildly in the hot seat due to his perceived lack of experience. He needed (and needs) to move quickly and decisively in pretty much every move he makes.

Watching Wilson waffle for months probably isn't a great idea for a new coach.

dwaderoy2004

I guess, but if there is any truth to the rumors that the offer was pulled, how does that make any sense if we are still actively recruiting for 2009.  Leave the offer out there, and if it's still there when he makes his decision then everyone is happy.  If it gets taken by someone else in the meantime, then so be it.

yes, but AirTran just added direct flights to Denver, from there you just hop on a covered wagon, head down the Oregon Trail and you're there in 2-3 months pending weather.

Last time I made that trip I lost all of my oxen fording a river... and my daughter died of dysentery :(

Just to point out - this story was done by Jeff Zampanti. There coincidentally happends to be a Jeff Zampanti on staff at the Kenosha News ... hmmm?

vulcan01

Are you talking about THE Jeff Zampanti, one of the most underrated, insightful writers of our lifetime? I think he may of even attended Marquette and covered the men's basketball team sometime in the mid-90s. That's what I heard.
