They destroyed Wake tonight, that guarantees we'll move to at least 7 in the polls come Monday.

I'm thinking #6, thanks to UConn's destruction of Louisville at Louisville.
Assuming, of course, MU takes care of business Friday night.

denverMU

We move to at least #6 with UCONN drubbing of Looserville!  Also, Clemson up 2 on Duke!!

its great to see Wake and UL lose now lets get some more help and see Duke lose and maybe have Oklahoma upset even though thats asking a lot. Lets not overlook USF this friday

Yes, indeedy.  Why are we talking about poll movement before we finish out our week?

#5
Speaking of drubbings ...
Michigan St. 42, Minnesota 16 at halftime.

I only regret that Trevor Mkabwe isn't on the court to enjoy it.

+1  We need to win the most important game of the season.  The next one.  Let's beat USF!  Go Marquette!!

dsfire

Not sure if Clemson will pull this one out, but they may deserve their ranking.  Duke is making awful, awful decisions under pressure - hard to see them making it to the Final Four if they play like this in any of their tourney games.

MilWarrior

Who else gets annoyed by the overuse of storming the court. Happens way too often. Definitely has lost its meaning. Good job Miami, you beat the #6 ranked team. Good win, but worthy of storming the court???? You gotta have pretty low expectations for your team to do that.

Looking ahead like that is a recipe for diaster.

The game at South Florida is not an automatic W.  I think this matchup could be fairly close.  Am I the only one who hasn't jumped MU to 10-0?

If anything on this board effected MU's play, we would have lost a long time ago.

no i am also scared about this game. if we play good we win but for some reason we always play sloppy down there. back in '03 when we were really good we lost a bunny at Eastern Carolina. I'm hoping Buzz has these guys prepared and they are focused and pour it on the bulls on friday night

I remember a few years ago watching Nebraska fans storm the court after beating an Oregon team that was ranked in the mid-teens.  I mean, really? Have some higher expectations!

DonCornholeone

Duke is down 20+ with 6 min left... Oklahoma down 8 with 6 min left... damn, 3 top 7 teams could go down tonight.

I'm not embarassed to admit that in December 1989 we stormed the Bradley Center court after we beat an unranked Notre Dame team that had a losing record at the time (1-2).

OK, I guess I am a little ashamed to admit it.

Plus, NC State beat Miami.  Thus, we could easily destroyed Wake.

Well, at least I wish it worked that way.

Stillawarrior,

We didn't lose that game?  Which year was it where we were up by like 22 at half and loss the game versus ND?  Was that 1988?  I was a student in '88-'92 and I know one of those first two years we blew the game.

Oh man, I was at that game. I still suffer flashbacks.
I was a season-ticker holder from 88-92 as well, and don't remember ever storming the court after a Notre Dame game (or any game, for that matter). Of course, maybe I missed a few games along the way.

Watching Duke get destroyed tonight, it made me wonder if Coach K has ever won a game in which his team was clearly outmanned?

When was the last game Mu stormed the court? I can't remember any while I've been here. (current senior). unless we did against #2 uconn my frosh year.

I think the last time was 04 against UL, the Mason game winner. But that was a minor one. Last big one was 2003 when they clinched the C-USA title.

boyonthedock

yeah, i didn't think they had stormed the court while I've been here. I've never had fanatics tix (not for lack of trying) but I go to 5 or 6 games a year now. my first was the loss to ND state in the blue and gold classic  :(. we didn't storm the court.

MilWarrior

Some more pathetic court-stormings tonight:

#10 Clemson over #3 Duke - not an upset, didn't clinch anything, don't think it was a historic win or anything but I might be wrong.

Indiana over a bad Iowa team - did Indiana really lose that much self-respect? I know it's a bad year but c'mon you look stupid!

I may be wrong, but i think i noticed that Clemson hasn't beaten Duke since 1997. Fairly 'historic' but not necessarily worth storming the court.

storming the court to me means HUGE upset, like unranked over #1. BC had good reason to do it after beating then-#1 UNC this season. the other reason is a win that actually counts for something great--conference title, NCAA Final Four, first time your school's been to the big dance, things of the like. when MU stormed the court after their win over UConn for the first B'east win, that's cool.

all that said, if UConn's still #1 and we beat them on the 25th, you bet i'm storming Al McGuire Court.
