He must be coming along slowly in practice, he didn't even see the floor last night.  We're gonna need him at some point, get him in for at least a few minutes!

Any expectations for a project 7 footer were misguided from the beginning of the year.  Add an injury and any real hope of contribution are unrealistic.  His contributions will be limited to having 5 fouls.

GoldenWarrior

I would like to see him at least get a few minutes here and there.  He's been buried on the bench for a while now even after coming back from injury.  I think he could become valuable down the stretch potentially for us, mostly due to his 5 fouls as mentioned above, but also as another big body.  If he can come along at least a little bit this year he may be able to pull down a few boards while out there hacking away at the likes of Thabeet and Blair.

Basically, yes his biggest contribution will be his 5 fouls this year, but if he can pull down a few boards while fouling that sure would be great to have come tournament time.

WE ARE MARQUETTE!!!

Let him work and work some more.

He wouldn't have fit in real well with the teams we have  been playing lately and what Buzz appears to want to do.

If he is progressing somewhat in practice I'd expect to see him against Uconn and the Ville.

He might be progressing and see some time against Seton Hall and maybe St. Johns.

Maybe he'll be our secret weapon against bigger opponents.

Again I think it depends on how well he is doing in practice especially on defense and rebounding.

oh my goodness here we go again.  not only is that comment ignorant but i would ask the poster to expund waht benefit Otule gets from say playing a few minutes versus not playing at all.  For example was Otule's 1 minute versus Depaul last time beneficial for him, let me remind you he came in posted up, got the ball and travelled.  He then ran down the court on defense and fell down as his man laid the ball in the basket.  Was that instrumental in his development?

Did you come to this conclusion after seeing Mbakwe completely dominate after he came back form injury last year?

This is exactly why he needs to get some real game experience.  We're not talkin' about pratice (Insert Allen Iverson quote here), but game experience, which is invaluable.  There is a comfort level that leads to better game play that only comes from being on the floor when it counts (see Jimmy Buttler).  I believe he should get some significant pt against some of the next several opponents, just to get him some experience.  If we don't see him in the next several games, he's done for the season b/c he wouldn't be thrown into the mix w/ for our last five games, the B-East tourny and the NCAAs...

This is the reality of where he is.  He's done for the year.  He will not contribute. He really was unlikely to contribute to the extent people would like to believe even if he hadn't been injured.

That comment is so wrong on so many levels that I do not even know where to begin to destroy it.  I will leave it at this.  It is no different than what I have said numerous times before.  It is my firm beleif that Chris Otule will at some point be a fine contributor to the success of MU basketball.  It is not his fault that he is our only player over 6'8" and that their are fans out there that think he can help us.  Players of his size and ability typically take 2-3 years to develop.  The problem is we did not sign anyone of his ilk for the last 4 years and have no true big men in the senior, junior or sophomore classes.  It is not chris Otules fault ignorant fans feel he should be ready to contribute, becuase he is far from it.  He only makes us a poorer team right now by being on the court.  If we were actually beating depaul by 20+ points he probably would have gotten some time.  otherwise it is too risky in our quest for a Big East title.  Apparently you feel in the coures of 5 minutes a game he can improve to the point of being ready to dominate the middle.  Sorry Charlie but it does not work that way.  In fact by playing those 5 minutes he would greatly increase our chances of losing and in the mean time have any confidence he might have absolutely destroyed which would only hurts his long term development.  It is a long term deal not an overnight one.  It appears that given the lack of big men wahtsoever people forget how long it takes to devlop a big man that is not a 4 or 5 star player coming in.  really unfair to the player and unfair to the people on this forum that have to read this stupid drivel after every game.

I will never comment on another Fulce or Otule thread again they are so stupid i lose IQ points just from reading them.

Sorry, but this is really dumb.  Otule isn't going to help us when it counts this year even if you give him minutes against the likes of DePaul.  I'm not exactly sure what kind of "experience" he is going to receive that will help him perform during crunch time of th BE and NCAA tournament.

In a couple of years, he will be a solid player.  He isn't one now.  He will learn and he will improve, and the time for him to do that right now is in practice.

Need him for what? He has yet to play any decent minutes. What are we missing? Otule probably never gets into a game the remainder of the season.

The ironic post of the week award.

You have at least 6 misspellings in there, champ. You might want to double check those before you blast somebody about IQ points.

Actually I was a perfect speller until I read BaltimoreMC's post.

I think Mr. Hayward is leading the site for most errors and confusing posts.
