This quandary is easily solved.   Carry in some Captain, put it in a Pepsi, and you've just saved yourself a boatload of money.

Rugbydrummer... do you have a personal grudge to settle with wisconsin this saturday after what their band does to female members??? be thankful you are at marquette where band sexual harassment is kept to a minimum, or atleast not reported.

1) My priorities are fine.  I love marquette basketball.  I have commented on the ability to be a boisterous fan sans alcohol on threads in the past, time spent in the front row of MU Pep Band notwithstanding.  Caffeine is also a viable option, too.  I am plenty obnoxious to opposing teams and incompetent refs regardless.  Just because I'd prefer to not be on the UNOS list within the next 3 decades doesn't make my priorities out of whack.  I go to 20+ games a year, and had been going to women's games regularly until recently.  Oh yeah, and I manage to do alright in school on top of it, funny how that works.

2)  I am not particularly aware of the practices of bands at other schools.  However, if what you say is true about the mistreatment of women in the Madison band, well, that is a terrible shame.  However, I am 100% sure Bo Ryan and his badgery crew are not the crux of that problem (although who knows, I do not).  That being said, I am ready for MU to dominate on Saturday regardless.  Maybe the most liberal campus in Wisconsin should start standing up for women's rights?

3) So.... I'm supposed to be grateful if, in fact, people get away with said sexual harassment on campus here, whatever does occur??  Thanks, but no thanks.  There's a reason I'm not a UW student.  Oh and as much as I should be "thankful" i am not in Mad's band... maybe you men should be thankful you do not have to put up with that rubbish 99% of the time......

and jaybilaswho?  sorry to mislead-- no, i did not play rugby.  But i did play drums in a rugby jersey . . .

It's a crazy idea, but.....you get drunk again, and its much easier this time.  Has no one else ever heard of the "Shampoo Effect", same logic applies here.  As previous poster mentioned, a flash of captain will do you well.

I don't want the captain to flash me! That $h1t's gross!!!

chcsportsfan

I have heard of the shampoo effect, and it does work...as does the sneaking in a flask/water bottle of hard stuff and buying a sprite/coke...its really the best option...but there is something to be said about being sober at the games...my first 3 years at MU games i pretty much did not drink (except for rarely) and i was loud and was the person who didnt sit except at halftime, went to all the games pretty much middle of the lower bowl...but then 4th year came around, i drank pretty much for every game, and was a pretty awful fan (upper deck, sitting whenever they werent playing, etc.) the experience became more about drinking then watching and cheering basketball.  did i have fun? you bet, but i was definitely a worse fan.

Does anyone remember hearing about the "beer belly"??  although that would look pretty funny on a gal...   thank goodness for the "wine rack"!!

The Beerbelly is great, however can be leaky.

I cannot agree enough with this article. Focusing soley on the morons that have sat in the front row every single game for the past four years that they are referencing. I'm glad they're passionate Marquette fans, that part is absolutely fantastic. But those kids think they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want, and they come off like spoled little brats. Do us all a favor and make them sit in the rafters for the rest of the year

San Diego Warrior

Part of the problem with the lack of drinking has to do with the student's are no longer allowed to drink outside of the bradley center, and all of the beverages are confiscated when standing in line.

I went to every home game while in school (except for maybe 2 or 3 a season because i was out of town), I went out Thursday through Saturday and drank more than my fair share, interned 25 hours a week and i still managed to do alright in school on top of it, funny how that works.
The point I was trying to make was that MU students now, just do not drink (in general) as much as ther predecessors did. I probably should have put the "they should be ashamed of themselves in teal, but didn't.

What is the UNOS list?

Our student section obviously ain't crunk enough.

What's with the lack of inivative thinking these days?  To further help you with your drinking on a budget problem, I'll make a suggestion.  While sneaking in Captain is a good start, keep in mind that the Pick n' Save sells Admiral Nelson.  It's the cheap cousin to the captain, and after about a quater of the bottle in, you can't really tell the difference.

jficke13

There's an awful lot of generalization going on in this thread.

MU's students aren't drunk enough, or maybe they are, or maybe some of them are. Some people don't know how to drink, but some people who went here years ago do... or maybe it's something not quite... oh... damn... this is getting confusing.

How about this:

Some college students drink and are obnoxious. Sure there are probably standards that they ignore when they are three sheets to the wind in the student section. I think this entire thread is over reaction on top of overreaction.

The people who don't drink are well within their rights to not drink. I am a student and a member of the media and I don't think that MU's student section goes too far on a regular basis by any stretch of the imagination.

-Did you hear I finally graduated?
-Yeah, and just a shade under a decade too, all right.
-You know, a lot of people go to college for seven years.
-I know, they're called doctors.

DJO's Pump Fake

The one thing the article forgot to mention was the annoying fans that sit in the front row and find it necessary to concern themselves with trying to manage the student section than cheer themselves.

I wish they would get off their high horse and stop trying to be parents.

I know it takes away from my fan experience.....anyone else?
