Trevor Mbakwe Off to Strong Start
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Monter
GoldenSports.net Nov 3, 2008

Trevor Mbakwe, a 6-foot-8 forward from Miami-Dade (FL) CC who committed to Minnesota last month, has helped lead the Sharks to a 2-0 start. Mbakwe scored 21 points and grabbed 31 rebounds in the two wins.

Trevor Mbakwe had nine points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots as the Sharks defeated Daytona State 85-58 Friday on the road in the 2008-2009 season opener. Miami Dade dominated on the boards, holding a 54-27 advantage.

Mbakwe was one of four double-figure scorers as Miami Dade defeated St. Petersburg (0-1) 83-75 on the road. Mbakwe finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Miami Dade just missed out on being in the preseason Top 30 NJCAA poll, but figures to have an outstanding chance of cracking the first regular-season poll. They face IMG Academy tomorrow.

His D-1 legacy will never outdo the Mbakwe thread.

This translates to an average of 3 pts. and 1.3 rebounds per game in the Big East.

Yeah. No offense but I can't imagine Miami-Dade plays anyone with great talent.

Bingo,
Anytime you beat a team by 30 points and out-rebound them by a 2 to 1 margin chances are they aren't very good.
That's like saying you beat a team by 30, you must be really really good...oh wait it was UWM.  ;D (sorry, couldn't resist)

How dare you disrespect the Daytona State Falcons, who proudly proclaimed this to be another rebuilding year on their own website.  Way to set the bar high fellas.

So what does this translate for Buycks?  4 pts. and 1 assist?  JUCO's hard to compare, but we could have used Trevor's board game--less his posse's mind games.

Buycks may not be all that either. Hence, the continued recruitment of a shooting guard. Not too many JC ballers impact a major D1 program.

This may be the exception, but Indiana University does not win the National Championship in 1987 w/o Dean Garrett and Keith Smart, two jucos.

Yes, Mbakwe benefits from the gift of low expectations.

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Only an 8 point victory?
Only 12 points and 14 rebounds in a JC game?

UNLV made a legacy out of JUCO's taking them to the NCAA's.  And then there was that Kenosha kid who went JUCO and then on to Cinncy....
