Wiki Video Hosting

Hey mods.  I think awhile back you guys mentioned that the wiki could have videos uploaded to it.  It was just a matter I believe of how to use a player to play them on it?  Anything new on this?

I thought it might be better to save them to the wiki rather than outside sides.

I did look into it a bit - the big problem is not storage, but rather conversion.  The ideal situation is to allow people to upload all types of video (avi, mpg, wmv, etc.) and then convert it all to flash video (flv).   That conversion is processor intensive, and the free solutions for it are - well - somewhat incomplete.

Of course, this was a few months ago that I looked.  I'll investigate again and see if anything new is available.

Rock .. I think what we should be looking for is a mod that gives us a wiki syntax tag that allows flash embedding.  That way, the hosting would be on the various sites .. we'd just allow the flash to be embedded.
