It seems that Tubby and the Gophers have a renewed interest in Trevor. What can you tell us about him? Is the knee sound? Why is he in Miami?
Thanks

94Warrior

Who?  Never heard of him.

Seriously, I'd be more concerned with the head than the knee.  If you want a guy who takes full advantage of his teammates, coaches and university only to abandon them one day before classes begin - giving the program no chance to find a warm body to take his place - you are welcome to him.

You can find him, his knee, his head, and his advisers at Dade County Community College.  He'll have 2 yrs of eligibility left after this season, while accomplishing absolutely nothing.    ?-(

I'd say you won the slam dunk competition with post #2.  Good work!

Got a friend in Minny who is tight with some AAU coaches.  The warnings about TM coming out of HS were louder than those for Hurricane Ike.  Amazaing that our former headcoach didn't heed any of them.

Buzz would never take a recruit surrounded by red flags.

There have been a lot...wait let me rephrase that...A LOT of posts about Trevor on the MU Scoop boards. This may be the best Trevor post EVER!!

When you can't land legit post players, you will take whatever you can get.  There is no doubts that Mbakwe is a very talented player and TC had no choice but to take a risk.  Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Maymon has grade issues and an involved parent.  TM was described to me as flighty at best.

You need players who are 100% commited to your program.  That's where TM's flag come in.  I talk to several WI HS coaches who RAVE about Maymon's heart, determination etc.  Jeronne's level of committment should never be an issue.  The dude is a basetball player.  Pure and simple, a basketball player.

You could have found similar posts telling us all about his new level of commitment after Crean took Mbakwe.

Basketball has never been the problem for Maymon. Both players risks. MU is shooting for 50% now.

I am guessing this was meant to be light blue... with the whole Maymon and if he would qualify or not.

Trevor is on his visit to Minnesota this weekend during Midnight Madness. He may be offered if coaches like what they hear from him. Tubby seems determined to add a "big" during the fall signing and it may well be Mbakwe.

$10 says he is making my sandwich at Subway in 10 years.

Oh I hope not.  I can't put up with that song for another 10 years.

That statement sounds a LOT like the description of good old #3 when he was coming out of HS...

That song is awful, but look at the alternative.  Do you really want Jared on your TV screen for one more second?

Why do you think it will take 10 years? His eligibility is up in 2 years and the smart money says he starts @ Subway right after Minnesota is eliminated in the Big 10 Tournament.

If the Reaper (bless his soul) can find work in Europe then I would think Trevor would be able to find work.  I'd compromise with 7 or 8 years, although based on his history I wouldnt think he'd hold any job for over a year.

Maybe we should start a poll to guess how many total colleges and universities he attends.

Here is a little update on Trevor for anyone who cares, sounds like he will make an offical visit to the Gophers for "Tubby's Tipoff tonight at Williams Area per the Star Tribune

"Trevor Mbakwe, the former St. Bernard's and Henry Sibley basketball standout who played last season at Marquette and now is attending Miami-Dade Community Colllege, will make an official visit to the Gophers and coach Tubby Smith for "Tubby's Tipoff" tonight at Williams Arena. Mbakwe missed most of last season because of an injury, then chose to leave Marquette just before the start of fall classes."

And...rightfully so.

I think he WAS a talent. He may not be any longer.

I really question what he can give UM in two years of eligibility's time.
