Going to the MU at Butler game in February - starting to look into tickets/hotels - anyone that has made this trip before have suggestions?

What's a good section to target for seats?

What about hotels that make it easiest to get to Hinkle?

Anything else ya'll would suggest doing before/after the game?  Most likely arriving earlier that day and just staying over Saturday night.

Much appreciated!

Went a few years ago. I only remember a couple of things that might be worth something to you ...

We actually parked on the street, right across from Hinkle, for free. We couldn't believe it when we pulled up about 2 1/2 hours before tip and there were spots there. We kept looking for signs saying only certain permits could park there, but there were none. The car was still there after the game, didn't get ticketed or towed. So that was pretty cool.

After parking the car, we walked a short distance to a bar close to Hinkle. Obviously a Butler bar but there were lots of MU fans there. A good vibe, with plenty of good-natured trash-talking going on. Affordable beer and bar food.

Enjoy!

Sun Crusher was a solid brewery that was worth checking out.

We went several years ago. Stayed downtown, the bars were unremarkable, honestly.

There's really not many bad seats in Hinkle. It's a wonderful venue.

Bumping this - anyone have any idea how we could figure out which color jersey they'll be wearing on Saturday?

Why don't you email the athletic department or hit up Broeker on twitter.

Mike Broeker is very accessible and quick to get back with people. You could also try Scott Kuykendall.

I thought MU was calling it "Valor Blue" now to match Nike branding? Glad Scott is getting it closer to the more appropriate name although "Baby Blues" is the historically correct branding.

Scott's response to me was "Championship Blue" so I guess that's what we're calling it now...but this is Scoop, so we could have 2 more pages about it with various references to past coaches and players.

I am being a bit snarky because there was some scolding communication a few years back to ensure it's called "Valor Blue". Wtf? Well it's Nike branding and its was a big nod in UNC's direction, not Marquette's.

Wade has left Nike. MU was hosed over in favor of Georgetown and then DePaul for the Phil Knight Invitational. Scott is back to calling it "Championship Blue".  This makes me wonder if MU is a bit at odds with Nike?

Stranger things have happened, but Shaka is a Nike guy. While at Texas, I think Texas signed at the time the Largest College Endorsement deal.

Butler went from Adidas to Nike/Jordan, now he's a Li-Ning guy.

I'd be surprised if the basketball coach at Texas was the driving force behind their shoe/apparel deal. Honestly, maybe little or no input.

That said, VCU was in Nike at the Final Four, and Shaka likely would have been much more involved in that.

And just because someone or some school was with Nike, that doesn't mean they will always be with Nike.  Keep winning and the Marquette property becomes more valuable.

That's why I said stranger things have happened. Shaka has had a good long relationship with Nike, going back to his Villa 7 days, and other philanthropic ventures with Nike, helping get KD to get a Texas Nike shoe, along with his contacts on the Nike summer high school circuit etc. I've been wrong before, but I dont think calling a shade of blue a different name means we're on the outs with Nike.
