It's almost like the system is good. Add in a shooter (still wish we'd won on the Alfonso Plummer transfer sweeps) and teh system looks REALLY good. Love our PnR system

We do run the pick-and-roll well, especially against a lame team like DePaul, but well in general. Tyler's very good at it, and our bigs do their part, too.

This is why I think we are a dangerous tourney team. Our defense is frenetic, high energy, and hard to prepare for, but it's also our offense. In a year when point guard play is at a premium, we have an elite passer and our pick and roll offense and ball movement is hard to defend. In a tourney setting with unfamiliar opponents that only have 2-4 days to prepare, that makes for matchup nightmares.

Just call Kolek a BB player or gym rat. He does not need to0 score, just distribute.

I'm mostly having fun. Though in line with the other thread, I just don't see Kolek drastically improving his shooting this season. He' only a 6th year high school freshman though, so has plenty of time to improve at Marquette.

But, the rest of his play is critical to Marquette's success this year.

Kemba Walker made himself a bazillionaire when he went from being a low-30s 3-point shooter to a high-30s. His first several years in the league, you could always go under the screens. But when he started hitting 3s, he made you pay for going under screens.

Kemba was a hell of a player, and yet he didn't become a good 3-point shooter until his 5th NBA season. Or as Marquette would say, until he was a redshirt-redshirt-redshirt-redshirt-redshirt-redshirt-redshirt-redshirt freshman.

In other words, Kolek can improve, too. I just hope he does so before too many more redshirt years go by!

Yeah, and hopefully next year we will be able to keep it going without Kur. Having Oso replace him and Keenan replace Oso. Another reason I really enjoy this PnR is because of the way it helps get JLew and Darryl downhill. They also use it to get slips, for example they'll have it look like Justin is screening the wing, but then he slips out to the top of the key for a jumper or to get downhill.
