How small of a school was MU back then that people still obsess about the heart breaker cheerleader like it's a small town high school?

I mean I went to MU for 5yrs and I don't remember a single cheerleader's name. In fact I remember meeting one and forgetting her name instantly... which might be a testimony to the lasting effects of boxing more than her but the point remains.

The term "people", while technically correct, is deceptive in that it makes it sound like there are many, when in fact it is about 4 people of the Sweater Vest & Viagra (tm) crowd.

I socialized with the cheerleaders during my time at MU.  Peripherally knew the future Mrs. Marotta.   Never got the obsession.    Just the underachiever in me, I guess.

I went to MU several years BGP (Before Gail Pudvan) and, like you, don't remember a single cheerleader's name. That's because none of them were all that. Gail Pudvan was pretty, sure, but at Colorado, UCLA, USC, Arizona State she wouldn't have stood out. At MU (where the competition was anything but fierce) she was a goddess.
