QuoteThe audit states that the MCEC paid Favre's company, Favre Enterprises, $500,000 in December 2017 and $600,000 in June 2018 for appearances. According to the Clarion-Ledger, those appearances were to include promotions, autographs and speaking engagements.

According to the audit conducted by State Auditor Shad White's office, "auditors were able to determine that the individual contracted did not speak nor was he present for those events."

The Clarion-Ledger and AP both reached out to Favre and his representatives on Monday and did not immediately receive a response. Favre is not facing criminal charges.

Also, the Million Dollar Man received $2 million for his ministry (not the Ministry of Darkness, mind you). Further, his son Brett additionally received welfare funds from the state in order to undergo drug treatment & he was later charged for that, although he's currently pleading not guilty.

It was part of widespread fraud in their DHS department:

Is that for his winter church in the Netherlands Antilles or one of his other seasonal churches?

If you want to get away with fraud, just say it's for religious purposes.

John Oliver did a brilliant episode a few years back where he created a church and invited donations. He collected upwards of 100K IIRC and shielded all of it from the tax man because, well, it was a church! I think he eventually gave it away to charity, but it made for a couple of hilarious (and also eye-opening) episodes.

Now Favre states he thought it was for some commercials he shot. Who takes $1.1M from a charity to make a couple of PSAs?

I apologize to Bears fans for bringing up the name Curtis Enis, but he was represented by a a sketchy preacher/agent who negotiated a 10% "tithing" to his church in Enis' contract (normal commission at the time was 4%). The NFLPA killed that.
